Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a benign yet diagnostically challenging mesenchymal myofibroblastic proliferation that often mimics the histological features of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) and soft tissue sarcomas. The overlap in histopathological appearance, compounded by the variability in immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, frequently leads to diagnostic uncertainty. In this report, we present a case of a rapidly expanding lesion on the left medial mandible, ultimately diagnosed as NF.

Thymoma-associated multiorgan autoimmunity (TAMA) is a rare paraneoplastic disorder that presents similarly to graft versus host disease (GVHD). We report a unique case of TAMA presenting as a GVHD-like erythroderma in an elderly male with a history of benign thymoma. Cutaneous histopathological findings demonstrated vacuolar interface dermatitis with numerous dyskeratotic keratinocytes, exocytosis of lymphocytes, and a mildly acanthotic epidermis, which can be seen in several different disease processes.

The predicted implosion performance of deuterium-tritium fuel capsules in indirect-drive inertial confinement fusion experiments relies on precise calculations of the x-ray drive in laser-heated cavities (hohlraums). This requires accurate, spectrally dependent simulations of laser to x-ray conversion efficiencies and x-ray absorption losses to the hohlraum wall. A set of National Ignition Facility experiments have identified a cause for the long-standing hohlraum "drive deficit" as the overprediction of gold emission at ∼2.
