Prevalence of eosinophilic esophagitis: A multicenter study on a pediatric population evaluated at thirty-six Latin American gastroenterology centers.

Introduction And Objective: Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic, immune-mediated disease described in case series and publications worldwide. Over the past twenty years, the authors of different studies have attempted to evaluate its incidence and prevalence. The objetive of the present study was to estimate the prevalence of eosinophilic esophagitis in a group of children seen at 36 pediatric gastroenterology centers in ten Latin American countries.

Quantum Anomaly and Thermodynamics of One-Dimensional Fermions with Three-Body Interactions.

We show that a system of three species of one-dimensional fermions, with an attractive three-body contact interaction, features a scale anomaly directly related to the anomaly of two-dimensional fermions with two-body contact forces. We show, furthermore, that those two cases (and their multispecies generalizations) are the only nonrelativistic systems with contact interactions that display a scale anomaly. While the two-dimensional case is well known and has been under study both experimentally and theoretically for years, the one-dimensional case presented here has remained unexplored.

[Profile of gastrointestinal diseases in a pediatric gastroenterology center in Colombia: 15 years of follow-up].

Introduction: The profile of gastrointestinal diseases is constantly changing globally and locally affecting suspected diagnosis and medical methods.

Objective: To establish the main diagnoses in a gastroenterology, hepatology, and pediatric nutrition unit in Bogota between 2009 and 2013, and to compare with findings from the same unit during the two prior five-year periods (1997 to 2006).

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective descriptive study.
