Background: To gain insight into the pathogenesis of right ventricular (RV) cardiomyopathy and ventricular tachycardia (VT), we determined the clinical and electroanatomic characteristics and outcome of ablative therapy in consecutive patients with (1) RV dilatation, (2) multiple left bundle-branch block (LBBB)-type VTs, and (3) an abnormal endocardial substrate defined by contiguous electrogram abnormalities.

Methods And Results: All 21 patients had detailed RV bipolar electrogram voltage mapping. Eighteen patients had simultaneous left ventricular (LV) mapping, including all 4 patients with right bundle-branch block (RBBB) VT.

Background: A proarrhythmic consequence of pulmonary vein (PV) isolation can be a recurrent organized left atrial (LA) tachycardia after ablation. This arrhythmia is frequently referred to as "left atrial flutter," but the mechanism and best ablation strategy have not been determined.

Methods And Results: Isolation of arrhythmogenic PVs was initially performed by segmental ostial PV ablation guided by a circular mapping catheter in 341 patients.

Methane emissions were observed from knees of baldcypress (Taxodium distichum) in floodplain swamps of the Ogeechee river, a blackwater river in the lower coastal plain of Georgia, USA Emissions were sampled on 10 dates from March 1988 to September 1989, with small chambers placed over single knees. Methane emission rates from individual knees averaged 0.90 mg/d, corresponding to an average of 0.

We found abnormal diurnal weight gain among 25% of acutely psychotic patients with schizophrenia and 68% of chronically psychotic patients with schizophrenia. They were weighed at 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM weekly for 3 weeks. We normalized the diurnal weight gain (NDWG) as a percentage by subtracting the 7:00 AM weight from the 4:00 PM weight, multiplying the difference by 100, and dividing the result by the 7:00 AM weight, NDWG was 0.

The M protein of group A streptococci is considered one of the primary virulence determinants of this organism because it prevents phagocytosis. All of the 56 different M protein types of group A streptococci tested contain a DNA region that hybridizes with a labeled probe consisting of DNA encoding the type 6 M protein (emm6 gene). In addition, 2 of 3 functionally M- group A strains (strains that are successfully phagocytized) also contain this gene, but this DNA is not present in 1 M- strain.
