The use of a mistress and the internalized sexual mother.

Using clinical material and the transference manifestations from two married male patients who had mistresses and a female patient whose husband had a mistress, it is suggested that the mistresses are used to deal with the man's internalized sexual mother, thus allowing the wives to become the good-enough mothers that the men had never experienced. It would seem that the father unconsciously colludes with this incestuous relationship between the sexual mother and the son by not being an adequate husband. It is further suggested that one of the qualities of a good-enough father is the capacity to be a good-enough husband.

In search of a loving father.

With the help of clinical material obtained from two male patients in therapy at the same time, the concept of the loving father is examined. Both patients presented with a fear of being homosexual. It gradually became clear during the therapy that both of them were searching for a loving father.

Treatment and follow-up of adolescents addicted to heroin.

A survey of the first year's referral of heroin-addicted adolescents was undertaken exactly two years after the opening of a special treatment unit. Out of 130 patients presenting 78 were selected for treatment and were followed up. The drug-taking pattern of this group is reported.
