Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) has already been described as a possible form of neural leprosy presentation. However, the median nerve can be involved in this neuropathy in proximal segments and, sometimes, with an asymmetric impairment of the digital branches.
Objective: To detail the pattern of median nerve impairment through nerve conduction study (NCS) and ultrasound evaluation.
Background: Hopkins syndrome is a rare polio-like syndrome, with an incompletely understood pathophysiology, that affects children after asthma crisis.
Methods: A 10-year-old girl was admitted to the intensive care unit following a severe asthma attack, requiring mechanical ventilation for a period of five days. After regaining consciousness, the patient exhibited development of asymmetric flaccid paraparesis.
Lymphatic filariasis (LF) is a neglected tropical disease associated with poverty and poor environmental conditions. With the inclusion of vector control activities in LF surveillance actions, there is a need to develop simple methods to identify areas with higher mosquito density and thus a higher consequent risk of transmission. The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected different sectors of society, and healthcare workers have been particularly impacted. This study aimed to describe the clinical, epidemiological, and molecular characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 infections among healthcare workers in Evandro Chagas Institute, a research reference center in Brazil, from October 2020 to July 2022. 845 samples were collected from individuals who presented clinical symptoms of respiratory infection.
