Introduction: Healthcare workers (HCWs) are at higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Viral surveillance for early detection of COVID-19 is a critical strategy to understand this population's infection dynamics and prevent transmission. The study examines SARS-CoV-2 infection and reinfection among HCWs vaccinated against COVID-19 working at a primary healthcare unit serving a disenfranchised community in Brazil.

Human Pegivirus Type 1 (HPgV-1), a ubiquitous commensal virus, has been recently suggested as a marker of immunologic function. There is scarce data for the presence, genotypes, and molecular characteristics of HPgV-1 among kidney transplant recipients. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the prevalence and the molecular characteristics (cycle threshold, genotypes) of this viral infection among kidney transplant recipients from the Brasília, Federal District of Brazil.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, Brazil aims to eliminate autochthonous malaria by 2035. This study aims to analyse epidemiological patterns of malaria in Brazil to discuss if Brazil is on track to meet malaria control targets.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with probabilistic record linkage of death and malaria cases data in Brazil from 2011 to 2020 using death records from the Mortality Information System (SIM) and epidemiological data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (Sinan) and Epidemiological Surveillance Information Systems for malaria (Sivep-Malaria). Three matching keys were used: patient's name, date of birth, and mother's name, with an analysis of cosine and Levenshtein dissimilarity measures.
Anthropogenic fires are an increasing threat to tropical savannas and their plant populations. In the Brazilian Cerrado, human-made fires at the end of the dry season are replacing natural fires at the beginning of the dry season. Critically, these late burns occur under more intense climate variables.
