Sponges (Phylum Porifera) are aquatic sessile metazoans found worldwide in marine and freshwater environments. They are significant in the animal tree of life as one of the earliest-branching metazoan lineages and as filter feeders play crucial ecological roles, particularly in coral reefs, but are susceptible to the effects of climate change. In the face of the current biodiversity crisis, genomic data is crucial for species conservation efforts and predicting their evolutionary potential in response to environmental changes.

Research on false memory in bilinguals using the DRM task has shown that false memories transfer across languages, but comparisons to within-language conditions have yielded mixed results. In two experiments, Spanish-English bilinguals completed standardized language assessments and a DRM task. Experiment 1 (N = 96) had several study-recall cycles before a final recognition test, and Experiment 2 (N = 72) only tested recognition.

Article Synopsis
  • Psoriatic disease is often overlooked, so researchers created the Psorcast app, which uses smartphone sensors to let patients self-measure their skin and joint symptoms.
  • During the study, nearly half of the 104 participants had psoriatic arthritis, and the app showed a strong correlation with traditional physician assessments for skin involvement.
  • The app’s results are promising, but more research with larger groups is needed before it can be used more widely in clinical practice, and the technology is open-source for public access.
