In this paper we demonstrate an increase in thermoresistance of resting Reuber H35 cells upon growth stimulation by serum-containing medium: late G1/early S-phase cells were thermoresistant as compared with G0 phase cells. Increase of thermoresistance during early cell cycle runs parallel with increased tolerance of structural and molecular properties of the cell nucleus. Nuclear shape and chromatin structuring became thermotolerant as determined by geometric and densitometric analysis of Feulgen-stained nuclei.

At the 64-cell-stage embryos of Patella develop a prototroch consisting of four groups of four cilia-bearing cells. Ciliogenesis of isolated blastomeres and trochoblasts was studied, as well as the effect on it of cleavage arrest caused by cytochalasin B treatment. Isolation of blastomeres or trochoblast cells has no influence on ciliogenesis; neither has arrest of cleavage in whole embryos after the third cleavage.

Cyclic GMP levels vary reciprocally with cyclic AMP levels, the cyclic GMP level increasing up to 4 to 5-fold and the cyclic AMP level falling to 50 percent at the onset of mitosis.
