During laboratory monitoring of patients with rheumatic diseases it is not uncommon to notice elevated liver transaminase levels. From a rheumatological perspective there are multiple causes for this. Liver dysfunction can be the result of certain rheumatological diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus.
