Development and maintenance of consensus recommendations on pediatric outpatient antibiotic therapy in Germany: a framework for rational use.

Unlabelled: In pediatric outpatient care, overuse and misuse of antibiotics is linked to a high risk of adverse events and increased antibiotic resistance. In 2019, building upon the work of the Antibiotic Therapy in Bielefeld (AnTiB) project (founded in 2016), a collaboration among the AnTiB, the German Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (DGPI), and the Professional Association of Outpatient Pediatricians and Adolescent Physicians (BVKJ) was established to develop consensus recommendations for antibiotic therapy in pediatric outpatient settings in Germany. This working group became the Antibiotic Stewardship in Outpatient Pediatrics (ABSaP).

Understanding Cancer Treatment Decision Making Among Cancer Survivors: Weighing Cancer Recurrence Versus Cardiotoxicity.

Background: Nearly 20% of US cancer survivors develop cardiovascular disease (CVD) from cardiotoxic cancer treatments. Patients and providers may consider alternative treatments to lower cardiotoxicity risk, but these may be less effective at preventing relapse/recurrence, presenting a difficult tradeoff.

Aims: This study explored survivors' cancer treatment decision-making when weighing this tradeoff.

One-Year Outcomes in Subjects Developing Macular Neovascularization While Undergoing Avacincaptad Pegol Therapy for Geographic Atrophy.

Purpose: To assess the 12-month outcomes in subjects developing macular neovascularization (MNV) during intravitreal avacincaptad pegol (IVA) treatment for geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Methods: This research was conducted as a case-controlled, retrospective study of AMD subjects undergoing IVA treatment for GA from two private practice institutions. Subjects were divided into 1) a Study Group of patients who developed MNV and then underwent anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy during the study period, and 2) a Control Group of patients who were complication-free during the study period.

Real-World Outcomes in Pre-Existing Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration Subjects Undergoing Avacincaptad Therapy for Geographic Atrophy.

Purpose: To evaluate real-world outcomes in subjects with pre-existing neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) undergoing intravitreal avacincaptad pegol (IVA) treatment for geographic atrophy (GA).

Methods: This study was undertaken as a retrospective, case-controlled assessment of patients undergoing IVA treatment for GA from 2 community-based retina practices. Patients were separated into 1) a Study Group consisting of subjects with pre-existing neovascular AMD prior to initiation of IVA for GA, and 2) a Control Group consisting of AMD subjects without neovascularization prior to initiation of IVA for GA.

Nitrogen Reduction Testing with Real-Time NH Yield Quantification Using Orbital Multiturn Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry.

Yield validation of dinitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) catalysts with N isotope labeling experiments is frustrated by the high cost of N and the frequent occurrence of NH and NO impurities in commercial N sources. Also, gas diffusion electrode (GDE) cell architectures are relevant to scaling NRR but underexplored and limited by ex situ product analysis methods. To overcome these obstacles, we develop and demonstrate a protocol for NRR catalyst testing using a scalable GDE cell architecture and specialized test station that facilitates in-line product analysis with multiturn time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
