Use of binary and ternary mobile phases in reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatographic separation of chiral compounds.

The influence of the nature of typical organic modifiers, used in reversed-phase systems diluted with water, on retention and selectivity of chiral acetylated diamines and acetonitriles possessing pharmacological activity was investigated. A liquid chromatography procedure has been employed for the quantitative determination of trace amounts of salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic salicylic acid and acetylsalicylic anhydride in several Polish drugs containing aspirin. The results were compared with those obtained by other workers for analogous foreign drugs.
