As multigene panel testing is becoming routine in clinical care, there are recommendations at national and international level, as to which genes should be analyzed in the context of a hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC). However, the individual composition of gene panels offered by testing laboratories vary, resulting in a different variant diagnostic rate. Therefore, we performed a retrospective NGS dataset analysis of suspected HBOC patients who had been tested at different German diagnostic laboratories that are part of the NASGE network.

Reductive phosphatization is an original synthesis approach to the formation of transition metal phosphates (TMPs). The approach enables the synthesis of known TMPs, but also new compounds, especially with transition metals in a low-valent state. However, to exploit the enormous potential of this synthesis method, it is necessary to identify and characterize all of the potential intermediates and final synthesis products.

There has been a rising call to decolonize global health so that it more fully includes the concerns, knowledge, and research from people all over the world. This endeavor can only succeed, we argue, if we also recognize that much of established global health doctrine is rooted in Euro-American beliefs, values, and practice rather than being culturally neutral. This paper examines the cultural biases of child feeding recommendations as a case in point.

Objective: To test the reliability of the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology Giant cell arteritis (GCA) Ultrasonography Score (OGUS) and other composite scores in a patient-based exercise involving experts and non-experts in vascular ultrasonography.

Methods: Six GCA patients were scanned twice (two rounds separated ≥3 hours) by 12 experts and 12 non-experts. Non-experts received 90 min of theoretical and 240 min of practical training between rounds 1 and 2.

Realizing plasmonic nanogaps with a refractive index ( = 1) environment in metallic nanoparticle (NP) structures is highly attractive for a wide range of applications. So far in self-assembly-based approaches, without surface functionalization of metallic NPs, achieving such extremely small nanogaps is challenging. Surface functionalization introduces changes in the refractive index at nanogaps, which in turn deteriorates the desired plasmonic properties.
