This paper examines similarities in the works of Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher, and B. F. Skinner, a behavioral psychologist.

Socrates and temporal lobe epilepsy: a pathographic diagnosis 2,400 years later.

Purpose: Some enigmatic remarks and behaviors of Socrates have been a subject of debate among scholars. We investigated the possibility of underlying epilepsy in Socrates by analyzing pathographic evidence in ancient literature from the viewpoint of the current understanding of seizure semiology.

Angioendotheliomatosis proliferans systemisata (AEPS) is a rare disease entity characterized by a predominantly intravascular proliferation of tumour cells. Two forms of AEPS are differentiated: a very rare, benign and self-limiting form, which is endothelial in origin, and a more common, malignant form, which is an angiotropic intravascular malignant B-cell lymphoma. Histological and immunohistological investigations of the malignant form of AEPS are presented: In a 69-year-old woman cutaneous lesions appeared 5 months before the diagnosis of B-immunoblastic lymphoma.

A sensitive radioisotope dilution method was used to measure the S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) content in macroplasmodia of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum during the mitotic cycle. The AdoMet pool had two maxima, one during mitosis, the other in the middle of G2 phase.
