- A multicenter study compared ultrasound-guided lumbar medial branch block (LMBB) with fluoroscopy-guided LMBB for treating pain from lumbar facet joints.
- Fifty adults were randomly assigned to receive either method and assessed for pain relief and disability using various scales before treatment and at 1 week and 1 month post-procedure.
- Results showed that the ultrasound-guided method was just as effective as fluoroscopy in pain relief and had the added benefit of being irradiation-free, making it a viable alternative.
Purpose: Conduction block of the brachial plexus block at the humeral canal, as described by Dupre, has certain clinical indications. The aim of this preliminary study was to assess the feasibility of this technique under ultrasound guidance.
Methods: After ultrasound evaluation of the brachial plexus at the humeral canal in 61 adult volunteers, we performed ultrasound-guided blocks in another 20 adult patients.
Introduction: Acute perforation may occur in gastric and duodenal ulcers. During the past decade, the need for elective operation for peptic ulceration has decreased as medical treatment has improved. However, emergency operations for acute complications such as perforation or bleeding remain constant.
