The arrangement of binary subwavelength structures is a promising alternative to the conventional multiheight level technique to generate computer generated holograms (CGHs). However, the current heuristic design approach leads to a slight mismatch between the target signal and experimental data. To evaluate this deviation, a diffractive beam splitter design is investigated rigorously using a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.

Chitosan hollow fibers were produced by wet spinning, taking advantage of the unique rheological properties of highly viscous chitosan solutions in acetic acid. The mechanical and separation properties of hollow fibers were tested. The mechanical properties were determined by measuring tensile force, tensile stress, elongation, and initial elasticity module.

Forty percent of colostrum samples from German women showed neutralizing antibody titers of greater than or equal to 50 to rotavirus (RV) serotypes 1, 3, 4, and 6. Antibody to serotypes 2, 8, and 9 was less prevalent. Titers are, however, too low to indicate an important effect of colostrum on the RV vaccine take rate.
