In much of the northern Great Basin of the western United States, rangelands, and semi-arid ecosystems invaded by exotic annual grasses such as cheatgrass () and medusahead () are experiencing an increasingly short fire cycle, which is compounding and persistent. Improving and expanding ground-based field methods for measuring the above-ground biomass (AGB) may enable more sample collections across a landscape and over succession regimes and better harmonize with other remote sensing techniques. Developments and increased adoption of unoccupied aerial systems (UAS) and instrumentation for vegetation monitoring enable greater understanding of vegetation in many ecosystems.

The field of artificial intelligence (AI) has entered a new cycle of intense opportunity, fueled by advances in deep learning, including generative AI. Applications of recent advances affect many aspects of everyday life, yet nowhere is it more important to use this technology safely, effectively, and equitably than in health and health care. Here, as part of the National Academy of Medicine's Vital Directions for Health and Health Care: Priorities for 2025 initiative, which is designed to provide guidance on pressing health care issues for the incoming presidential administration, we describe the steps needed to achieve these goals.

Across the country, pharmacists are developing their professional competencies to move outside the dispensary and directly integrate with specialist teams. Within dermatology, the widespread use of high-cost and high-risk pharmacological interventions presents a range of opportunities for a pharmacist to contribute to safer, more cost-effective use of medicines. As well as using prescribing qualifications to take on clinical workloads, pharmacists can enact cost-saving changes to routine prescribing; improve clinical governance and use their expertise in medicines to effectively advocate for access to new or alternative treatment options, as well as demystify complex funding pathways.

Optimizing concentrations of minerals and phytohormones is essential when culturing a new plant species. The objective of this study was to use Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to evaluate combinations of selected minerals (N, Ca, and P) along with zeatin (Zea) to obtain optimum shoot growth of little-leaf mockorange. Forty-six treatment combinations were assigned using Proc Optex in SAS software version 9.

Researchers and practitioners are increasingly using machine-generated synthetic data as a tool for advancing health science and practice, by expanding access to health data while-potentially-mitigating privacy and related ethical concerns around data sharing. While using synthetic data in this way holds promise, we argue that it also raises significant ethical, legal, and policy concerns, including persistent privacy and security problems, accuracy and reliability issues, worries about fairness and bias, and new regulatory challenges. The virtue of synthetic data is often understood to be its detachment from the data subjects whose measurement data is used to generate it.
