The Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) is a simple and inexpensive tool for Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments, with evidenced psychometric data from different countries. However, it is still unclear whether ASD symptoms are measured the same way across different societies and world regions with this tool, since data on its cross-cultural validity are lacking. This study evaluated the cross-cultural measurement invariance of the CARS among children with ASD from six countries, for whom data were aggregated from previous studies in India (n = 101), Jamaica (n = 139), Mexico (n = 72), Spain (n = 99), Turkey (n = 150), and the United States of America (n = 186).

This study was originated in recognition that little data have been accumulated in the literature regarding concentrations of gentamicin in various infected tissues. The study was undertaken to determine if systemically administered gentamicin penetrates burn wound eschar and to determine if there is a relationship between gentamicin serum levels attained and concentration of gentamicin reaching the eschar. Five hospitalized adult patients requiring parenteral gentamicin for sepsis secondary to third-degree burns were studied prospectively.

Seventy-six patients undergoing elective cholecystectomy were randomly divided into drained and nondrained subjects and studied with sonography preoperatively and postoperatively to determine the incidence and fate of subhepatic fluid collections. In the drained group, detectable subhepatic fluid was seen in 5 per cent of patients, whereas it occurred in 20 per cent of nondrained patients. Although this difference achieved statistical significance (P less than 0.
