Background: Access to healthcare significantly influences health outcomes, and rural, regional and remote populations face greater challenges in accessing healthcare than urban populations. Digital health tools, such as remote patient monitoring (RPM), have significant potential to address these healthcare challenges, yet there is little research on the facilitators and barriers of RPM in these regions.
Aim: This study aims to identify and understand the facilitators and barriers healthcare staff face implementing RPM in rural and regional Australia, with focus on challenges that arose after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Background: Nonoperative management of rectal cancer in patients who achieve near-complete response following total neoadjuvant therapy remains controversial and understudied.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study conducted at a tertiary National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center included patients with rectal cancer who initiated active surveillance after achieving near-complete response following induction radiotherapy and consolidation chemotherapy. Near-complete response was determined based on restaging endoluminal evaluation and pelvic magnetic resonance imaging.
Background: Implementation challenges of digital health solutions (DHSs) comprise complexities of behavioural change, resource limitation, inertia in existing systems, and failure to include consumer preferences. Understanding the factors which contribute to successful implementation of DHS is essential. We report the development of an implementation strategy for Brain Tumours Online (BT Online), a digital supportive care platform for patients with brain tumours, their carers and healthcare professionals.
