Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of non-fixation versus fixation of meshes in laparoendoscopic repair of M3 inguinal hernias in terms of recurrence, postoperative pain, and surgical complications.

Summary Background Data: International guidelines recommend mesh fixation for large M3 inguinal hernias during laparoendoscopic repairs due to high recurrence rates. However, emerging experimental and registry data suggest that anatomically shaped, rigid and three-dimensional meshes may maintain stability without fixation.

High-grade B cell lymphomas with rearrangements on C-MYC and BCL2 and/or BCL6 (HGBL with MYC and BCL2 and/or Bcl6 rearrangement) are associated with worse clinical outcomes and thus were introduced as a separate new category in the recently updated WHO classification. From 2012 to 2016, we analyzed a consecutive cohort of large B cell lymphomas (LBCLs) for C-MYC, BCL2, and BCL6 rearrangements and correlated our results with clinical-pathological parameters. Ten of 78 (13%) cases had a C-MYC and BCL2 and/or BCL6 rearrangement, so-called double or triple hit (DH), while double/triple copy number gains (CNGs) were found in eight (10%) patients.

The most remote isotope from the proton dripline (by 4 atomic mass units) has been observed: ^{31}K. It is unbound with respect to three-proton (3p) emission, and its decays have been detected in flight by measuring the trajectories of all decay products using microstrip detectors. The 3p emission processes have been studied by the means of angular correlations of ^{28}S+3p and the respective decay vertices.

Article Synopsis
  • The study measures the normalized differential cross section for top quark pair production in proton-proton collisions at the CERN LHC, using data from the CMS detector with an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb⁻¹.
  • The analysis focuses on different decay channels, including lepton+jets and dilepton, examining various kinematic properties of charged leptons and associated jets.
  • The results are compared to theoretical predictions from quantum chromodynamics, showing no significant deviations from the standard model expectations.

Previously unknown isotopes (30)Ar and (29)Cl have been identified by measurement of the trajectories of their in-flight decay products (28)S+p+p and (28)S+p, respectively. The analysis of angular correlations of the fragments provided information on decay energies and the structure of the parent states. The ground states of (30)Ar and (29)Cl were found at 2.
