Article Synopsis
  • The study addresses gaps in medical education regarding the sexual health needs of diverse populations, particularly focusing on an adolescent sexuality workshop integrated into pediatric clerkships.
  • The efficacy of the workshop was evaluated by comparing the performances of medical students who attended it with those who did not, during an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) involving a standardized patient scenario.
  • Results indicated that students who participated in the workshop scored significantly higher in gathering psychosocial history, showing that targeted education can improve medical students' abilities to engage with sexual minority adolescents effectively.

Objective: Cerebral venous oxygenation (Y) is a key parameter for the brain's oxygen utilization and has been suggested to be a valuable biomarker in various brain diseases including hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in neonates and Alzheimer's disease in older adults. T-Relaxation-Under-Spin-Tagging (TRUST) MRI is a widely used technique to measure global Y level and has been validated against gold-standard PET. However, subject motion during TRUST MRI scan can introduce considerable errors in Y quantification, especially for noncompliant subjects.

Objectives: Clinical reasoning with generation and prioritization of differential diagnoses (DDx) is a key skill for medical students, but no consensus exists on the best method to teach these skills. Meta-memory techniques (MMTs) may be useful, but the efficacy of individual MMTs is unclear.

Methods: We designed a 3-part curriculum for pediatric clerkship students to teach one of 3 MMTs and provide practice in DDx generation through case-based sessions.
