A pilot study of intensity modulated radiation therapy with hypofractionated stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) boost in the treatment of intermediate- to high-risk prostate cancer.

Clinical data suggest that large radiation fractions are biologically superior to smaller fraction sizes in prostate cancer radiotherapy. The CyberKnife is an appealing delivery system for hypofractionated radiosurgery due to its ability to deliver highly conformal radiation and to track and adjust for prostate motion in real-time. We report our early experience using the CyberKnife to deliver a hypofractionated stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) boost to patients with intermediate- to high-risk prostate cancer.

Management of chronic postoperative groin pain.

Postoperative groin pain is a common complaint following surgery of the abdomen and groin. Although this pain usually resolves in the early postoperative period, some experience prolonged, debilitating pain lasting months to years. There is currently a lack of consensus as to the appropriate transition from medical to surgical management of these patients.

Urinalysis: a comprehensive review.

A complete urinalysis includes physical, chemical, and microscopic examinations. Midstream clean collection is acceptable in most situations, but the specimen should be examined within two hours of collection. Cloudy urine often is a result of precipitated phosphate crystals in alkaline urine, but pyuria also can be the cause.

Establishment of a clinically correlated human pericardial fluid bank: evaluation of intrapericardial diagnostic potential.

The development of a clinically correlated human pericardial fluid bank and database is described. A unique feature of this registry is the availability of a large number of pericardial fluid samples for testing with respect to multiple factors and for correlation with angiographic findings and clinical syndromes expressed by the patients. The collection of data at the present time comprises frozen pericardial fluid samples obtained from patients who have undergone cardiac surgery; and historical, clinical, and laboratory data obtained from the patient records.

Location of stents in the left anterior descending coronary artery using three dimensionally acquired, two dimensionally displayed transthoracic echocardiography.

The location of left anterior descending arterial stents was documented in 10 of 13 patients using 3-dimensionally acquired, 2-dimensionally displayed transthoracic echocardiography. The echocardiographic appearance of stents was characterized, and the location of the proximal and mid-left anterior descending artery was objectively documented.
