Article Synopsis
  • Keloid scars and Dupuytren's disease are chronic conditions that may cause joint contractures; the study aimed to find shared gene expression patterns between the two.
  • Researchers used RNA sequencing and bioinformatics tools to analyze differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and identified 1,922 DEGs, but no overlapping profiles were found between the conditions.
  • The study highlighted key genes (like CDH1, ERBB2, CASP3, and RPS27A) that could be targeted for potential new treatments or biomarkers for these diseases.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a MYB-driven head and neck malignancy with high rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis and poor long-term survival. New effective targeted therapies and clinically useful biomarkers for patient stratification are needed to improve ACC patient survival. Here, we present an integrated copy number and transcriptomic analysis of ACC to identify novel driver genes and prognostic biomarkers.

Background: Low energy falls (LEF) in older adults constitute a relevant cause for emergency department (ED) visits, hospital admission and in-hospital mortality. Patient-reported outcome measures containing information about patients' medical, mental and social health problems might support disposition and therapy decisions. We investigated the value of a tablet-based (self-)assessment in predicting hospital admission and in-hospital mortality.

Purpose: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to compare re-rupture rates, complication rates, functional outcomes, as well as return to work (RTW)/sport (RTS) among different rehabilitation protocols following operative treatment of acute Achilles tendon ruptures.

Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Five databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing at least two rehabilitation protocols following surgical repair of acute Achilles tendon ruptures.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is an aggressive head and neck malignancy characterized by a t (6;9) translocation resulting in an gene fusion or, more rarely, an fusion. The true frequency and clinical significance of these alterations are still unclear. Here, we have used tissue microarrays and analyzed 391 ACCs and 647 non-ACC salivary neoplasms to study the prevalence, expression, and clinical significance of alterations by FISH and immunohistochemistry.
