Surgical excision and omentalisation of mineralised paraprostatic cysts with concurrent ureteroneocystostomy and perineal herniorrhaphy in a 9-year-old male entire Bearded Collie.

This case report describes the diagnosis, management and the short- and long-term outcomes of a dog with paraprostatic cysts and associated perineal herniation. A 9-year-old male entire Bearded Collie was referred for a caudal abdominal mass and right perineal hernia noted on routine examination. Computed Tomography (CT) imaging of the abdomen demonstrated a large bilobed fluid filled structure adjacent to the prostate, extending into the peritoneal cavity and the right perineal space, causing perineal herniation and partial obstruction of the right ureter.

Prevalence and classification of congenital thoracic vertebral body abnormalities in neurologically normal brachycephalic 'screw-tail' dog breeds in referral practice in Australia.

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence, type, site and breed predisposition of thoracic congenital vertebral malformations (CVM) in neurologically normal brachycephalic 'screw-tail' dog breeds.

Study Design: Retrospective case series.

Animals: Neurologically normal French Bulldogs (n = 63), British Bulldogs (n = 42), Boston Terriers (n = 4) and Pugs (n = 86) presenting for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome treatment.

Factors associated with trauma recidivism in young children.

Background: Trauma recidivism is associated with future trauma-associated morbidity and mortality. Previous evidence suggests that socioeconomic factors predict trauma recidivism in older children (10-18 years); however, risk factors in US children 10 years and younger have not been studied. We sought to determine the factors associated with trauma recidivism in young children 10 years and younger.

Implementing electronic health records on a medical service trip improves the patient care process.

Background: The efficiency of the patient care process of short-term medical service trips is often not assessed. The Gregory School of Pharmacy has organized annual medical camps in rural Uganda, however, the paper health records used for documentation and communication between stations have shown several limitations that hinder an optimal patient care process. Therefore, our objective was to implement an electronic health record system in these medical camps to improve the workflow and optimize the patient care process.
