A 61-year-old woman with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in accelerated phase had a near-triploid bone-marrow karyotype. This karyotype is an unusual finding in CML, as we review 12 previously published similar cases. These patients do not differ clinically from other patients with CML in blast crisis.

A rare case of Castleman's disease presenting as Crohn's disease is described. This 21-year-old male with chronic neutropenia for one year presented with recurrent right lower quadrant pain of two years' duration. Small bowel follow-through suggested Crohn's of the terminal ileum.

Objective: To determine the incidence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) associated non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in a cohort of patients from a distinct geographic region (southern Alberta). The type and location of NHL as well as how it affected the survival of these patients was examined.

Factor XIII A subunit (FXIIIA) is found in plasma, platelets, and monocytes. The hemopoietic contributions to FXIIIA in these components were studied in patients transplanted with marrows from donors with different FXIIIA phenotypes. In three patients with successful engraftment (by DNA genotyping, red cell phenotyping, and cytogenetic studies) platelet and monocyte FXIIIA changed to donor phenotypes with hematologic recovery.
