Background/objectives: The correlation of handgrip strength (HGS) and morphological characteristics with Big Five personality traits is well documented. However, it is unclear whether these relationships also exist in highly trained and specialized populations, such as tactical athletes, and whether there are specific differences compared to the general population. This study aimed to explore the interplay of handgrip neuromuscular, morphological, and psychological characteristics in tactical athletes and the general population of both genders.

Total penectomy as treatment option for solitary penile metastasis in hormone sensitive metastatic prostate cancer (mHSPC): Case report with surgical technique.

We present a case of a 66-year-old man with a three-year history of Gleason 10 prostate cancer (PCa), who presented with penile pain, erythema, and induration of the penile shaft. His cancer was treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), radiotherapy, and apalutamide, resulting in PSA reduction; however, a solitary penile lesion persisted, necessitating radical penectomy. At 12 months post-surgery, PSA levels and magnetic resonance imaging findings remained stable, with no signs of metastasis.

Assessment of the diagnostic value of serum cathepsin S and its correlation with HDL subclasses in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Background: Recent findings point to the key role of cathepsin S (CTSS) in the survival of malignant cells, as well as the significance of the anti-apoptotic properties of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) that contribute to enhanced cell survival. The purpose of this study is to analyse CTSS as a potential biomarker in lymphoma. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Europe. This study aimed to investigate CRC mortality trends in Montenegro from 1990 to 2018 and critically review the impact of preventive activities on cancer suppression in this country. We used the national CRC mortality data categorized by sex and age.

Language and executive functions in patients with transcortical motor aphasia and Broca's aphasia.

This study investigated language and executive functions (EF) in people with transcortical motor aphasia (TMA) and Broca's aphasia (BA). Participants included 19 patients with TMA, 19 patients with BA, and 25 healthy controls. Verbal Fluency tests, Stroop tests and Trail-Making tests were administered to all participants, and the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination (BDAE) was administered to participants with aphasia.

The olfactory mucosa is important for both the sense of smell and as a mucosal immune barrier to the upper airway and brain. However, little is known about how the immune system mediates the conflicting goals of neuronal maintenance and inflammation in this tissue. A number of immune cell populations reside within the olfactory mucosa and yet we have little understanding of how these resident olfactory immune cells functionally interact with the chemosensory environment.

Liquid-filled hard gelatin capsules may have pertinent advantages both for therapeutic effect and extemporaneous preparations of medicines. Alpha lipoic acid is a substance used in medicines and dietary supplements and there is a need for creating an appropriate formulation which would be suitable for each individual patient or consumer. Based on its biopharmaceutical and physical chemical characteristics, eight different capsule formulations were designed and characterized.

Genetic variability of Roma population in Serbia: The perspective from autosomal STR markers.

Genetic variability of Roma population was shaped by the strong influence of genetic drift and gene flow during the migrations from their ancestral homeland in Indian subcontinent towards Europe. In addition, social stigmatization in many European countries, as a consequence of different cultural heritage and social practices, induced further genetic differentiation and sub structuring within the population. Although many populations genetic studies on European Roma were carried out, the genetic structure of the Serbian Roma has not been described yet, since only the modest number of individuals from this territory was analyzed.

Apart from its direct effects on physical health, it has also significantly affected the overall quality of life and mental health. This study employed a path analysis to explore the complex association among multiple factors associated with quality of life, anxiety, and depression in the general population of the Republic of Srpska during the pandemic's second year.

Interpretability of Causal Discovery in Tracking Deterioration in a Highly Dynamic Process.

In a dynamic production processes, mechanical degradation poses a significant challenge, impacting product quality and process efficiency. This paper explores a novel approach for monitoring degradation in the context of viscose fiber production, a highly dynamic manufacturing process. Using causal discovery techniques, our method allows domain experts to incorporate background knowledge into the creation of causal graphs.

Evaluation of reliability and validity of the Serbian Aphasia Screening Test.

Purpose: A rise in strokes worldwide means that the number of people affected by aphasia is increasing. Early and accurate diagnosis of aphasia is crucial for recovery. Presently, there are no dedicated screening tests tailored for evaluating aphasia in Serbian-speaking individuals.

Pineal gland volume loss in females with multiple sclerosis.

Introduction: Multiple sclerosis has a complex pathophysiology, and numerous risk factors can contribute to its development, like exposure to sunlight that is associated with serum levels of melatonin. The aim of this study was to determine whether the volume of the pineal gland, assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), correlated with the presence of multiple sclerosis.

Methods: This retrospective study included a total of 394 patients.

Time trends in liver cancer mortality rates in Montenegro from 1990 to 2018.

Objective: Liver cancer is the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Hepatitis B and C infections are the main factors affecting mortality. During recent years, Montenegro conducted activities on eradication of viral hepatitis according to the global strategy for the primary prevention of liver cancer mortality.

The Impact of Cytokines on Health-Related Quality of Life in Adolescents with Allergic Rhinitis.

Background: Frequent episodes of nasal symptoms are the usual clinical manifestations (CM) of allergic rhinitis (AR) and have a significant negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adolescents. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to test the hypothesis that cytokines in nasal mucus may be associated with HRQoL in adolescents with AR.

Methods: European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions 3 Level Version (EQ-5D-3L), "The Adolescent Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire" (AdolRQLQ) and the Total 4 Symptom Score (T4SS) scoring system were administered to 113 adolescents with AR, nonallergic rhinitis (NAR) and to healthy control subjects.

The study included two independent cohorts of n = 92 and n = 102 patients who underwent a radical cystectomy for BC.

An Overview of Orthoptera Mass Occurrences in Croatia from 1900 to 2023.

During the last century, well-known locust species, such as and , have produced outbreaks of varying degrees in the Balkans. The literature data on outbreaks in the region are scarce, and Croatia is not an exception. This study summarized the data on 23 Orthoptera mass occurrences in Croatia from 1900 to 2023 from 28 localities, representing 12 species.

Sociodemographic Characteristics and the Influence of Religion on the Knowledge of Doctors, Nurses, and the General Population in Montenegro About Transplant and Organ Donation.

Objectives: The goal of our research was to determine the level of knowledge of healthcare workers and the general population about transplantation and organ donation through sociodemographic and religious aspects.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study to provide insight on the knowledge of doctors, nurses, and the general population in Montenegro about organ transplantation and donation. We had 400 respondents (200 doctors and nurses and 200 people from the general population) who were surveyed and who signed informed consent to participate in the study.

Temperature Sensing Properties of Biocompatible Yb/Er-Doped GdF and YF Mesocrystals.

YGdF:Yb/Er mesocrystals with a biocompatible surface and diverse morphological characteristics were successfully synthesized using chitosan-assisted solvothermal processing. Their structural properties, studied using X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis, were further correlated with the up-conversion emission (λ = 976 nm) recorded in function of temperature. Based on the change in the visible green emissions originating from the thermally coupled H and S levels of Er, the corresponding LIR was acquired in the physiologically relevant range of temperatures (25-50 °C).

Diabetes management, dietary supplements use and the effect of coronavirus pandemic on diabetes patients in Serbia: a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a significant public health challenge in Serbia, mirroring the situation in other European middle-income countries. The aims of this study were to examine the disease-related characteristics and management of diabetes, as well as the prevalence of use of dietary supplements (DS) among diabetes patients in Serbia, and to analyze the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on DM patients in Serbia.

Methods: The study was carried out as an online, observational, cross-sectional study involving 422 adult diabetes type 1 (DM1) and type 2 (DM2) patients residing in Serbia.

Case Report: Labor induced coccydynia associated with Modic I changes successfully treated with platelet-rich plasma.

Imaging can aid in determining potential causes of coccygeal pain and therefore guide clinicians to carry out individualized treatment. We represent a case of postpartum coccydynia treated by platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which was assessed and followed by MRI. A primipara with uncomplicated labor developed coccygeal pain after delivery that significantly limited her postpartum recovery.
