Article Synopsis
  • * The synthesis of compounds involved a Diels-Alder reaction guided by biomimetic studies, leading to the creation of various unnatural chalcone-monoterpene derivatives.
  • * Some compounds demonstrated significant inhibitory activity against protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), suggesting their potential use as antidiabetic agents due to the enzyme inhibition.

This study surveys the impacts of injection parameters on the deformation rate of the injected flexure hinge made from ABS, PP, and HDPE. The flexure hinges are generated with different filling time, filling pressure, filling speed, packing time, packing pressure, cooling time, and melt temperature. The amplification ratio of the samples between different injection parameters and different plastic types is measured and compared to figure out the optimal one with a high amplification ratio.

Backgrounds And Aims: The aim of this study is to provide a good approach for a quantitative EQA scheme assigned value with limited resources.

Materials And Methods: Twelve lyophilized EQA items were distributed to participants in 2021 from North to Southeast Vietnam to measure the concentration of nine parameters, including glucose, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, triglyceride, uric acid, AST, ALT, and GGT. The consensus value of the expert group and all participants were calculated and statistically compared to choose the most appropriate consensus value.

The realization of hybrid optics could be one of the best ways to fulfill the technological requirements of compact, light-weight, and multi-functional optical systems for modern industries. Planar diffractive lens (PDL) such as diffractive lenses, photonsieves, and metasurfaces can be patterned on ultra-thin flexible and stretchable substrates and be conformally attached on top of arbitrarily shaped surfaces. In this review, we introduce recent research works addressed to the design and manufacturing of ultra-thin graphene optics, which will open new markets in compact and light-weight optics for next-generation endoscopic brain imaging, space internet, real-time surface profilometry, and multi-functional mobile phones.

Background: Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic that is used to treat serious grampositive infections. However, therapeutic drug monitoring for vancomycin is not performed routinely in Vietnam in clinical practices. Monitoring of serum vancomycin concentration or trough levels is necessary to ensure the efficacy and safety of vancomycin therapy.

Introduction: The external quality assessment (EQA) scheme is particularly important for laboratory performance evaluation. Peripheral blood smears are necessary to identify morphological features, and the procedure for preparing such smears must be robust to meet the ISO 15189 standard. Although blood smear preparation is a routine activity in medical laboratories, an appropriate procedure for preparing a series of blood smears with high homogeneity and durable stability for EQA purposes has not yet been published elsewhere.

Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is an emerging infection with pandemic potential. Knowledge of neutralizing antibody responses among its pathogens is essential to inform vaccine development and epidemiologic research. We used 120 paired-plasma samples collected at enrollment and >7 days after the onset of illness from HFMD patients infected with enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), coxsackievirus A (CVA) 6, CVA10, and CVA16 to study cross neutralization.

Aims Of Study: In this work, we enhanced the role of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test by examining the relation between free PSA (fPSA) and total PSA (tPSA) value and other biological information such as age and volume of prostate. Our primary goal is to find an approach that improves the sensitivity but still give a reasonable specificity.

Subjects And Methods: We proposed a new approach to predict the prostate cancer (PCa) based on tPSA, fPSA, age, and prostate volume by using combination of statistical techniques and support vector machine (SVM).

A good heterogeneous catalyst for a given chemical reaction very often has only one specific type of surface site that is catalytically active. Widespread methodologies such as Sabatier-type activity plots determine optimal adsorption energies to maximize catalytic activity, but these are difficult to use as guidelines to devise new catalysts. We introduce "coordination-activity plots" that predict the geometric structure of optimal active sites.

Background: In March of 2003, an outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) occurred in Northern Vietnam. This outbreak began when a traveler arriving from Hong Kong sought medical care at a small hospital (Hospital A) in Hanoi, initiating a serious and substantial transmission event within the hospital, and subsequent limited spread within the community.

Methods: We surveyed Hospital A personnel for exposure to the index patient and for symptoms of disease during the outbreak.

We investigated the clinical manifestations and course of all probable severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patients in the Vietnam outbreak. Probable SARS cases were defined by using the revised World Health Organization criteria. We systematically reviewed medical records and undertook descriptive statistical analyses.
