Computer simulations using atomistic model are carried out to investigate the stability of ternary systems of pure or mixed fatty alcohols, cetrimide, and water. These semi-solid oil-in-water systems are used as the main component of pharmaceutical creams. Experiments show that the mixed alcohol systems are more stable than pure ones.

Methods: Cross-sectional analysis from data of a study about the prevalence of frailty in older inpatients in Vietnam in 2015. Polypharmacy was defined as using ≥5 medications.
Objective: To compare the characteristics of rutin-loaded PLGA (poly(lactic-coglycolic acid)) nanoparticles prepared using a single emulsion evaporation method (bulk method) and a nanoprecipitation method using microfluidics.
Methods: Rutin-loaded PLGA nanoparticles were produced using different methods and characterized for size, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency (EE) and drug loading (DL). A design of experiments approach was used to identify the effect of method parameters to optimize the formulation.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (oxiPPP) contributes to cell metabolism through not only the production of metabolic intermediates and reductive NADPH but also inhibition of LKB1-AMPK signaling by ribulose-5-phosphate (Ru-5-P), the product of the third oxiPPP enzyme 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6PGD). However, we found that knockdown of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), the first oxiPPP enzyme, did not affect AMPK activation despite decreased Ru-5-P and subsequent LKB1 activation, due to enhanced activity of PP2A, the upstream phosphatase of AMPK. In contrast, knockdown of 6PGD or 6-phosphogluconolactonase (PGLS), the second oxiPPP enzyme, reduced PP2A activity.

Here we describe an integrated 3D single-molecule tracking and lifetime measurement method that can follow individual DNA molecules diffusing inside a mammalian cell and observe multiple annealing and melting events on the same molecules. By comparing the hybridization kinetics of the same DNA strand , we found the association constants can be 13- to 163-fold higher in the molecular crowding cellular environment.

As a way of obtaining a visual expression of knowledge, mapping knowledge domain (MKD) provides a vision-based analytic approach to scientometric analysis which can be used to reveal an academic community, the structure of its networks, and the dynamic development of a discipline. This study, based on the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) articles on road safety, employs the bibliometric tools VOSviewer and CitNetExplorer to create maps of author co-citation, document co-citation, citation networks, analyze the core authors and classic documents supporting road safety studies and show the citation context and development of such studies. It shows that road safety studies clustered mainly into four groups, whose we will refer to as "effects of driving psychology and behavior on road safety", "causation, frequency and injury severity analysis of road crashes", "epidemiology, assessment and prevention of road traffic injury", and "effects of driver risk factors on driver performance and road safety", respectively.
