[Detection of urinary Mycobacterium antigens by latex agglutination test].

A simple procedure was developed to defect infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis by detecting its antigens in the urine. Prolonged higher urinary antigen titers after tuberculin are suggestive of its great effect on the child. The fact that Mycobacterium antigen titers are equal in BCG-vaccinated children with positive and negative Mantoux tests proposes to change the approach to substantiating revaccinations.

[Detection of immunoglobulin concentration using the latex agglutination test].

Serum concentrations of IgG, IgA, and IgM in humans were measured in the latex agglutination test (LAT) with specific latex diagnostic agents. The results of immunoglobulin measurements by Mancini's method and LAT were in good correlation.

[The determination of class-M immunoglobulins in the latex agglutination reaction].

Results of measuring the concentrations of IgM in human serum using a specific latex diagnostic agent in the latex agglutination test (LAT) are presented. The authors demonstrate a higher efficacy of LAT in comparison with Mancini's method.

[Antimycobacterial antigens in lung secretion].

A latex antibody diagnostic kit was used to reveal microbacterial antigens in the sputum of patients with tuberculous and nonspecific lung disease in 54 and 38% of cases, respectively. It is suggested that Mycobacterium antigens are present in different tissues of an infected macroorganism.

[Chronic bronchitis (clinico-physiological, immunological and morphological comparisons)].

A total of 140 patients with chronic bronchitis were examined and distributed into 4 groups depending on the presence and degree of instrumentally recordable bronchial obstruction: chronic non-obstructive bronchitis (CNB), obstruction of the proximal bronchi, obstruction of the distal bronchi, generalized obstruction. In the presence of unmarked exacerbation, the laboratory data in all the groups pointed to a moderate degree of the inflammatory process and tension of the immunity system. The groups of patients with distal and generalized obstruction manifested dysfunction in the production of blood serum immunoglobulins with an isolated increase in the IgM content.

[Problems of the pathogenesis of cor pulmonale in chronic nonspecific lung diseases].

The article discusses the values of 22 external respiration indices reflecting the condition of the lung volumes and their ratios, the irregular distribution of the ventilation-perfusion ratios, the alveolar ventilation, the diffusion property of the lungs, and the gas composition of the alveolar air in patients with chronic nonspecific diseases of the lungs before and after the development of chronic cor pulmonale and in its stages of compensation and decompensation. Correlative and regressive analysis of the main pathogenetic mechanisms was conducted, making it possible to reveal the contribution made by each of them to the pathogenesis of cor pulmonale.

[Titration of antibodies to lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus by the method of indirect immunofluorescence].

Antibody to lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus was determined by the indirect immunofluorescence test in immune sera of guinea pigs and immune ascitic fluids of rats and mice. Among 135 patients with aseptic meningitis serum antibody was found in 11 patients in titers of 1 : 64 to 1 : 128 and in the cerebro-spinal fluid of these patients in considerably lower titers. By the indirect immunofluorescence test antibody in maximum titers was found early after the appearance of meningeal symptoms.
