[About the safety of application of nasal decongestants in the practice of pediatricians].

Undesirable effects of the application of the intransal vasoconstricting medications are a frequent occurrence in the pediatric practice. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the role of the intranasal vasoconstricting medications in the structure of the means and methods currently available for the treatment of toxicological pathologies based at a multi-field clinical hospital. The retrospective analysis of the medical histories of the patients admitted to the toxicological department and annual reports for the period from 2015 to 2016 was undertaken.

[Innovation in differential diagnosis and monitoring of rational therapy in patients with lumbosacral radiculopathies].

Objective: Unfortunately, nowadays there are no reliable ways to predict the outcomes of the conservative treatment in patients with dorsopathies. Otherwise, we could identify patients that demand intensive treatment including therapeutic blockades. We approbated and modified a method for assessment of radicular latency duration in patients with lumbosacral radiculopathies to evaluate its diagnostic value and the possibility of using in monitoring of effectiveness of conservative treatment.

[Hypotensive efficacy of combined pathogenically oriented surgical treatment of cataract and primary open-angle glaucoma].

A new algorithm of combined surgical treatment of cataract and glaucoma was developed. It enables selection of a proper method of pathogenically oriented antiglaucomatous intervention, decreases surgical trauma, facilitates normalization of intraocular pressure and helps stabilizing the course of the disease. Another development is a modification of combined phacoemulsification and trabeculectomy ab interno, aimed at increasing visual and hypotensive results.

[Metabolic therapy in neurology].

We studied the efficacy of rheosorbilact, an original infusion drug based on polyalcohols, in the complex therapy of patients with brain ischemia and diabetic neuropathy. Reosorbilact was used intravenously indrops 200-400 ml in day - 20 days. The primary endpoint of the study was the improvement of quality of life assessed with the SF-36 scale after 1 month of treatment.

[Antibacterial agent Oftaquix efficacy in cataract phacoemulsification].

Clinical study is performed to estimate the efficacy of Oftaquix in cataract phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Obtained results show that Oftaquix prescription two days before surgery allows to eliminate bacterial agents from conjunctival cavity on the day of surgery. Significant and stable antibacterial effect is demonstrated.

[The value of autofluorescence imaging in diagnosis of retinal diseases].

Results of fundus autofluorescence imaging using confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope HRA II ("Heidelberg Engeneering", Heidelberg, Germany) are presented. 106 patients with various retinal and optic nerve conditions were examined. The following conditions were diagnosed using autofluorescence imaging: early stage of age-related macular degeneration, macular hard and soft drusen, signs of retinitis pigmentosa, senile macular hole, central serous chorioretinopathy and optic disc drusen.

[The capacities of current test systems to verify early HIV infection].

The purpose of the present investigation was to comparatively evaluate the performance characteristics of the test systems designed to verify the positive results of screening survey for HIV infection, such as the solid-phase immunoassay DS-EIA-HIV-AB/AG-SPECTR (Diagnosticheskiye Sistemy (Diagnostic Systems) Research-and-Production Association, Nizhni Novgorod) and tests based on immune blotting (IB). The investigation examined 15 seroconversion panels produced by ZeptoMetrix (USA) and BBI (USA). The use of the DS-EIA-HIV-AB/AG-SPECTR test system determined 88 of the 167 seroconversion panels as HIV positive.

[Comparative study of hemostasis and cytokine production in experimental Dengue virus infection].

Some parameters of hemostasis and cytokine production during the fatal and nonfatal course of experimental human versus murine infection caused by Dengue virus (DV) were studied. A number of radiation accidents occurred at the "Mayak" plutonium production complex (Southern Urals, Russia) in 1950-60s that resulted in environmental contamination of large territories in the Southern and Middle Urals with long-lived radionuclides (90Sr, 137Cs). The results of long-term radiological monitoring were compiled into special databases at the Urals Research Center for Radiation Medicine, which allow the study of 90Sr behaviour in the environment and its accumulation in the human body. [Activity of cytokines in immunization with a vaccine against experimental tick-borne encephalitis].

An experimental double immunization of BALB/c mice with a vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis was accompanied by the production of IL-1b, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, TNFa and gamma-IFN in the blood serum of animals. After the first immunization of animals with the vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis, the activity of cytokine was indicative of an activation of macrophages as well as of an activation and differentiation of T- and B-lymphocytes. After the second immunization and unlike the first one, there were changes in the production only of IL-10, IL-12 and gamma-IFN, which can be indicative of a regulation of balance between Th1 and Th2.

[Cytokine production during experimental infection of mice with tick-borne encephalitis virus].

An experiment with BALB/c mice, infected with a lethal dosage of the virus of tick-borne encephalitis (TE), strain 205, was accompanied by pronounced growing concentrations of the IL-1 beta, IL-6, IL-10 and TNF alpha cytokines in the blood serum of animals.
