Laser-Plasma ion acceleration is acquiring importance on a daily basis due to incipient applicability in certain research fields. However, the energy and divergence control of these brilliant sources can be considered a bottleneck in the development of some applications. In this work, we present the commissioning of a compact proton beamline based on a triplet of quadrupoles dedicated to focus and collect short and energetic pulses, open to the user community.

We drew upon the previous literature to rigorously identify and remove fraudulent attempts when recruiting rural residents into a community-based health improvement intervention trial. Our objectives herein were to describe our dynamic process for identifying fraudulent attempts, quantify the fraudulent attempts identified by each action, and make recommendations for minimizing fraudulent responses.

Here, we show that shortening culture time mitigates the p53-mediated DNA damage response to CRISPR-Cas9-induced DNA double-strand breaks, enhancing the reconstitution capacity of edited HSPCs. However, this results in lower HDR efficiency, rendering ex vivo culture necessary yet detrimental.

This information is critical to the knowledge of mechanisms of nephroprotection and safety of this therapy.
Methods: This multicenter prospective study evaluates the changes in ABP after 12 weeks of dapagliflozin 10 mg/day in a cohort of patients with type 2 DKD and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) >25 mL/min/1.
Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic led to greater food insecurity across the world, and government and charitable organisations did not always respond quickly enough or adequately to meet food needs. Mutual aid (MA) - neighbours helping neighbours to meet survival needs - mobilised residents to share food, often through outdoor food cabinets and refrigerators. This study aims to understand how MA food sharing was implemented, including food availability, acceptability, accessibility and impact on food access.

Furthermore, genetic engineering of the above-mentioned primary human cells has several safety needs, including the requirement of efficient assays for unwanted tumorigenic events. In this work, we tested and optimized the Miniaturized Optically Accessible Bioreactor (MOAB) platform.

However, developing sensors for the energy selection, focusing, transport, and detection of these sources remains challenging. This work presents a novel and simple design for an isochronous magnetic selector capable of angular and energy selection of proton sources, significantly reducing temporal spread compared to the current state of the art.

Community supported agriculture (CSA) has the potential to improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables, yet low-income households seldom participate due to cost and other barriers. Cost-offset (or subsidized) CSA reduces financial barriers, yet engagement varies widely among those who enroll.

However, the widespread adoption of CCTA has revealed a large group of individuals without obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), with unclear prognosis and management. Measurement of coronary inflammation from CCTA using the perivascular fat attenuation index (FAI) Score could enable cardiovascular risk prediction and guide the management of individuals without obstructive CAD.

However, due to their inherently tight magnetic lattices, these storage rings have posed critical challenges for accessing lower-energy radiation, such as infrared (IR) and THz. Here the first-ever IR beamline to be installed and to operate at a fourth-generation synchrotron storage ring is introduced.

This research investigates the challenges and needs of peri-menopausal women in work settings, using the Job Demands-Resources model as a foundation.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was administered to 351 working women aged 40 to 65 years in the United States.
Background: Similar to procedures requiring general anesthesia, current guidelines recommend fasting for 6 hours for solids and for 2 hours for liquids prior to coronary angiography, but without data supporting such recommendation. The CORO-NF study aimed at assessing whether a shorter fasting period prior to elective coronary angiography associates with improved patient satisfaction without more complications compared with the standard fasting approach.
Methods: We conducted a single-center, randomized, prospective, pragmatic study in 2 sequential phases: a "conventional protocol phase," continuing the usual practice (F Group); and an "experimental phase" (NF Group), reducing minimum fasting duration to 2 hours.
Shock Ignition is a two-step scheme to reach Inertial Confinement Fusion, where the precompressed fuel capsule is ignited by a strong shock driven by a laser pulse at an intensity in the order of [Formula: see text] W/cm[Formula: see text]. In this report we describe the results of an experiment carried out at PALS laser facility designed to investigate the origin of hot electrons in laser-plasma interaction at intensities and plasma temperatures expected for Shock Ignition. A detailed time- and spectrally-resolved characterization of Stimulated Raman Scattering and Two Plasmon Decay instabilities, as well as of the generated hot electrons, suggest that Stimulated Raman Scattering is the dominant source of hot electrons via the damping of daughter plasma waves.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare squeeze intravaginal closure force after 6 weeks of PFPT in women affected by HTPFD and, secondarily, to describe changes in levator dimensions and short-term effects of PFPT on bladder, bowel, and pain symptoms.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of patients undergoing 6 sessions of PFPT for the diagnosis of HTPFD.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is now identified as a hepatic sign of metabolic syndrome and is the most frequent cause of chronic liver disease in all ages. It is assumed that a genetic predisposition associated with epigenetic factors participates in the evolution of this condition. Visceral obesity and insulin resistance (IR) have always been considered the most important causative factors of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) and NAFLD, but currently, the interaction between genetic heritage and environmental factors is increasingly considered fundamental in the genesis of metabolic disorders associated with NAFLD.

Haploinsufficiency in may affect multiple genes, including those involved in the development and metabolism of multiple organs. Considering the broad spectrum of functions, it is to be expected that pathogenic variants in this gene can cause a wide spectrum of clinical symptoms.

Methods: Forty-seven post-pubertal adolescents (16-20 years old, 28 female) with (N = 16; insomnia group) and without (N = 31; control group) DSM-5 insomnia symptoms were assessed for stress levels and stress reactivity and underwent a standardized stress protocol (Trier Social Stress Test (TSST)), after an overnight laboratory stay.
The anomalies of the Growth Hormone (GH)/Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF1) axis are associated with a higher prevalence of Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD) and with a more rapid progression towards fibrosis, cirrhosis, and end-stage liver disease. A total of 191 adolescents with obesity [12−18 years] were consecutively enrolled between January 2014 and December 2020 and underwent liver biopsy to diagnose MAFLD severity. In all patients GH, IGF1 and Insulin-like Growth Factor-Binding Protein 3 (IGFBP3) were measured.

We first demonstrate a key signature dependence of the entangled two-photon absorption rate on the type of entangled pair flux attenuation: linear, when the laser pump power is attenuated, and quadratic, when the pair flux itself experiences linear loss. We then perform a fluorescence-based Z-scan measurement to study the influence of beam waist size on the entangled two-photon absorption process and compare this to classical single- and two-photon absorption processes.
