Rare case of gemination and fusion involving supernumerary teeth and second mandibular molar - Case report.

This article presents the rare case of a patient with gemination and fusion involving conical supernumerary teeth and the second mandibular molar, along with its treatment. The 13-year-old girl, without any associated syndromes and currently undergoing orthodontic treatment, was referred for evaluation due to the presence of a supernumerary tooth. Following a clinical examination and analysis of a panoramic radiograph, a cone beam computed tomography was requested for a more detailed assessment of the supernumerary tooth and its relationship with adjacent structures.

Combined nonsurgical and implant restoration after dental trauma: a case report.

Dentoalveolar trauma is an important etiologic factor for tooth loss. A multidisciplinary approach to treatment is necessary because the functional, esthetic, and psychosocial problems that result from dentoalveolar trauma can significantly influence the patient's quality of life. The objective of this article is to describe the multidisciplinary treatment of a 39-year-old man who experienced dentoalveolar trauma in a bicycle accident.

Transcultural adaptation of a scale for exclusive breastfeeding to be used in Brazil.

Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale in Exclusive Breastfeeding for use in a Brazilian-Portuguese context.

Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation process involved the translation from original English into Brazilian Portuguese by two qualified and independent translators. Both translations were synthesized into a single version that was back-translated into English.

Time Reallocations From Sedentary Behavior to Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review.

Background: Recent statistical approaches have allowed consideration of the integrated relationships between sedentary behavior (SB) and physical activity (PA) with different health outcomes. The present paper aimed to systematically review the literature and synthesize evidence about associations between hypothetical reallocations from SB to different PA intensities and cardiovascular risk factors in youth.

Removal of mandibular third molars displaced to deep fascial spaces: case reports.

This article reports the treatment of 2 cases of mandibular third molar displacement into deep fascial spaces during attempted extraction, 1 of which resulted in acute infection. In addition to treatment approaches, the article reviews the risk factors for tooth displacement and techniques that may be used for its prevention. In both of the reported cases, after tooth extraction procedures resulted in the displacement of a third molar, the correct location of the tooth was ascertained by 3-dimensional imaging.

Orthognathic surgery associated with reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint with a customized prosthesis: a case report.

The objective of this case report is to describe the treatment of a dentofacial and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) deformity by means of reconstruction with a customized TMJ prosthesis and orthognathic surgery. The article discusses the therapeutic approach and the importance of functional and esthetic rehabilitation of the patient. A 22-year-old man displayed sequelae of osteomyelitis diagnosed at 6 years of age, including facial asymmetry, laterognathism, unsatisfactory occlusion, and mandibular retrognathism.

Foley catheter plus misoprostol versus misoprostol alone for labor induction.

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effects of Foley catheter combined with misoprostol in the labor induction process.

Methods: This is a nonblinded, block randomized, controlled trial that compared the association between transcervical Foley catheter/vaginal misoprostol 25 μg combination and vaginal misoprostol 25 μg alone in normal-risk and healthy pregnant women undergoing labor induction in the south of Brazil.

Results: A total of 230 patients with indications for labor induction were evaluated and classified into the "combined" group (Foley catheter plus misoprostol), consisting of 107 patients, and the "misoprostol" group (misoprostol only), consisting of 123 patients.

Hereditary Gingival Fibromatosis and Developmental Anomalies: A Case Report.

Hereditary gingival fibromatosis is the most common genetic form of gingival fibromatosis that develops as a slow, progressive, benign, localized, or generalized enlargement of the keratinized gingiva. It is a genetically heterogeneous disorder transmitted as an autosomal dominant or autosomal recessive trait or appears sporadically. Here, we report a case of a male patient with generalized gingival hyperplasia with great tissue extension to the palatal region, bilateral mandibular torus, bilateral exostosis in the maxillary posterior region, anterior open bite, and diastema in anterior maxilla and mandible teeth.

Bacteria are related do different oral diseases, such as dental caries and periodontal disease. Therefore, the control or/and eradication of microorganisms and their by-products is primordial for the success of their treatment. The aim of the present article is to present the clinical case of a large peripheral ossifying fibroma that evolved from a previously diagnosed pyogenic granuloma in a 50-year-old woman. The patient was referred for treatment of a lesion over the buccal and palatal gingiva close to the left upper first molar. It was purplish-red in color, approximately 3 cm in diameter, having a smooth surface, a pedicled and bleeding base, with seven years of evolution, and diagnosed as pyogenic granuloma.
