Plants can communicate with other plants using wireless pathways above and underground. Some examples of these underground communication pathways are: (1) mycorrhizal networks in the soil; (2) the plants' rhizosphere; (3) acoustic communication; (4) naturally grafting of roots of the same species; (5) signaling chemicals exchange between roots of plants; and (6) electrical signal transmission between plants through the soil. To avoid the possibility of communication between plants using mechanisms (1)-(5), soils in both pots with plants can be connected by Ag/AgCl or platinum wires.

The polarizations of promptly produced χ_{c1} and χ_{c2} mesons are studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=8  TeV. The χ_{c} states are reconstructed via their radiative decays χ_{c}→J/ψγ, with the photons being measured through conversions to e^{+}e^{-}, which allows the two states to be well resolved. The polarizations are measured in the helicity frame, through the analysis of the χ_{c2} to χ_{c1} yield ratio as a function of the polar or azimuthal angle of the positive muon emitted in the J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-} decay, in three bins of J/ψ transverse momentum.

The first search for supersymmetry in events with an experimental signature of one soft, hadronically decaying τ lepton, one energetic jet from initial-state radiation, and large transverse momentum imbalance is presented. A series of microfiltration membranes were fabricated by the extraction of polyisobutylene (PIB) from its immiscible blends with polymethylpentene (PMP). Helminths or their products can immunomodulate the host immune system, and this phenomenon may be applied as the basis of new anti-inflammatory treatments. Previously, we have shown the efficacy of tuftsin-phosphorylcholine (TPC), based on a helminth product, in four animal models of autoimmune diseases: arthritis, colitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. We demonstrated that TPC reduced inflammatory process ex vivo in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) and in biopsies from giant-cell arteritis.

Presented in the article are the results of surgical management of a patient with an extremely rare pathology - a saccular arterial aneurysm of the cavernous-ophthalmic segment of the left internal carotid artery. We performed multistage open surgical intervention in the following scope: osteoplastic pterional craniotomy on the left, creation of a wide-lumen anastomosis between the left external carotid artery and M2 segment of the left middle cerebral artery with the use of the radial artery, ligation of the cervical portion of the left internal carotid artery and clipping of its supraclinoid portion. The chosen surgical policy made it possible to create sufficient volumetric blood flow through the shunt, comparable to the blood flow through the internal carotid artery, which helped avoid ischaemic stroke after exclusion of the aneurysm from circulation.
