Few studies have explored how science communication projects are evaluated and what impact they have. This study aims to fill this gap by analyzing the results of science communication projects carried out by academics. Drawing on the theory of change and evaluation models, possible results of science communication projects are conceptually distinguished at the levels of outputs, outcomes, and impacts.

An improved understanding of both the features and drivers of tumor-permissive and -restrictive collagen matrices are critical to improve prognostication and develop more effective therapeutic strategies. In this study, using a combination of in vitro, in vivo and bioinformatic experiments, we show that type III collagen (Col3) plays a tumor-restrictive role in human breast cancer.

ChatGPT is widely known and used increasingly as an information source for different topics, including science. It is therefore relevant to examine how ChatGPT portrays science and science-related issues.

Objective: In this study, we investigated if agitation in the ED can be reduced by showing calming video sequences in elderly agitated patients.
Designs: Prospective randomized intervention study.
The compositional tunability of non-isovalent multicomponent chalcogenide thin films and the extent of atomic ordering of their crystal structure is key to the performance of many modern technologies. In contrast, the effects of ordering are rarely studied for quantum-confined materials, such as colloidal nanocrystals. In this paper, the possibilities around composition tunability and atomic ordering are explored in ultrasmall ternary and quaternary quantum dots, taking I-III-VI-group Cu-Zn-In-Se semiconductor as a case study.

Social media enable universities, but also academics and institutions affiliated with them, to expand their communication. This leads to increasing plurivocality of universities, yet the many different voices remain largely unexplored.

The causative signals are mediated predominantly through TLR-recruited myeloid differentiation primary response adaptor 88 (MyD88), as indicated by a dramatic pneumococcal meningitis phenotype of Myd88-/- mice. Because lipoproteins and single-stranded RNA are crucial for recognition of Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae by the host immune system, we comparatively analyzed the disease courses of Myd88-/- and Tlr2-/- Tlr13-/- mice.

Methods: This retrospective study comprised consecutive patients undergoing ESG.
Introduction: Gastric sleeve stenosis (GSS) is an increasingly common adverse event following sleeve gastrectomy for which objective diagnostic criteria are lacking. Impedance planimetry measurements show promise in characterizing GSS, though normal and abnormal benchmark values have never been established.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of upper endoscopies performed with impedance planimetry for suspected GSS.
The primary objective of the RisCoin study was to investigate the interplay of genetic, metabolic, and lifestyle factors as well as stress levels on influencing the humoral immune response after at least two COVID-19 vaccinations, primarily with mRNAs, and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infections during follow-up. Here, we describe the study design, procedures, and study population. RisCoin is a prospective, monocentric, longitudinal, observational cohort study.

Endoscopic treatment with serial pneumatic balloon dilation may relieve symptoms and prevent the need for conversion to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Endoluminal functional impedance planimetry (EndoFLIP) is an endoscopic tool that measures luminal diameter and distensibility indices (DI) and could be used to characterize severity of GSS.

The value of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) multiplex testing in clinical practice is still a matter of debate. This study aims to evaluate its benefits and limitations in emergency patients.

Our study aimed to characterise the need of in-house resources for patients treated in the ED according to the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and the presenting complaint at the timepoint of triage.
Design: A retrospective single-centre study was conducted.
Background: Gastric sleeve stenosis (GSS) occurs in up to 4% of patients after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Typical symptoms include reflux, abdominal pain, dysphagia, and regurgitation. Serial pneumatic balloon dilation (PBD) is a successful treatment in many cases obviating the need for revisional surgery, but the potential for weight regain is unknown.

Our studies define type III Collagen (Col3) as a suppressor of scar formation and desmoplasia through its effects, in part, on myofibroblasts. TGFβ stimulates activation of myofibroblasts, and here, we demonstrate that cultured Col3-deficient fibroblasts have increased TGFβ signaling compared to wild-type fibroblasts.

In consequence, pulmonary infections due to other respiratory pathogens also decreased. Here, we evaluated the number of bacterial and viral meningitis and encephalitis cases during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Translational research using a One Health approach provides a fundamental link between basic biomedical research and medical clinical practice, with the goal of developing strategies for curing or preventing disease and ameliorating pain and suffering in companion animals and humans alike. Veterinary clinical trials in client-owned companion animals affected with naturally occurring, spontaneous disease can inform human clinical trials and significantly improve their outcomes.

Corns were evaluated in diets with byproduct inclusion rates of 0, 15, 18, 20, and 30% distiller grains or 25 and 35% Sweet Bran (a commercial corn gluten feed product). Seven trials ( = 1856) consisting of 200 pen means comparing 26 diet treatments were analyzed using regression in a pooled analysis.
