Study of peculiarities of formation of preference in use of one of forelegs at learning of the manipulatory food-procuring skill has been carried out at different stages of early ontogenesis of white rats. It was established that as early as at the 3-week age the rat pups were already able to learn getting food from a narrow test-tube; however, no expressed preference in using one of the extremities was revealed. After repeated testing of adult rats at the age of 4 months the number of ambidexters was significantly higher than in the control animal group.

This report discusses the properties of the synthetic tetrapeptide epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly), synthesized on the basis of an epiphyseal peptide extract. Intranasal administration of epitalon was selected as a noninvasive means of applying the agent to the CNS by bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The aim of the present work was to assess the characteristics of the action of epitalon on the frequency of spontaneous neuron activity in the cerebral cortex of white rats.

Properties of tetrapeptide epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) constructed on the basis of pineal peptide extract, have been studied. The intranasal infusions: a noninvasive way to deliver this peptide to CNS hypassing the blood-brain barrier, was used. The aim of the study is to estimate epitalon action on rat motor cortex spontaneous activity.

In rats, a differential signal was used for evoking an optical image in the barrel-field zone which represented a difference between cortical images during the control and the stimulation periods. After a subtraction of averaged sequences of frames, an image of spots reflecting a probable location of activated groups of neurones was obtained. Natural low frequency stimulation of vibrissae is supposed to be the most effective.

Bilateral mapping of the frontal cortex of rat has been performed. The internal topographic organization of motor zones of the vibrissae was revealed with the low-threshold microstimulation. The comparison of the right and left hemispheres demonstrated some asymmetry in the vibrissae motor representation, its territory in the right hemisphere being larger than that in the left one.

Some changes of the organization of cortical motor representations, which were revealed by means of the intracortical microstimulation (ICMS) in aged rats after unilateral partial decortication, were true consequences of the decortication, but had no significant relationship to the aging. Distributions of latent periods of contralateral hind-leg EMG-responses to the ICMS had no significant shifts both during aging and after the surgery. Values of short-latency responses of ipsilateral proximal and axial muscles to the ICMS were in late time periods, from 8 to 16 months after surgery, significantly lower than ones of contralateral homonymous muscles.

Topical organization of the motor cortex was compared in outbred rats by the method of intracortical microstimulation in the norm and in different periods after unilateral partial decortication of the motor projection (MP) of the hind-leg. Stable state of the MPs of the fore- and hind-limbs was in the norm, and within their bounds there was an individual variability of MP zones of separate joints. After the operation, the reconstruction of the motor cortex organization in the opposite hemisphered appeared in later periods, in 5-7 months.

The process is accompanied with a 100% liberation of chloride ions. Aniline cannot serve as a growth substrate for the mixed culture.

Motor and EMG responses were studied in thirty rats craniotomized under thiopental, in conditions of intracortical microstimulation and surface anode macrostimulation of the parietal and frontal neocortical areas. Strict contralaterality and distinct separation was found in motor representation (MRs) of the fore and hind limbs, of vibrissae fields and even of some joints and functional muscle groups. On the territory of the hind leg MR which was studied in greater details, centrally lies the compact MR zone of toes, mediocaudally from it - a vast MR of the foot, and further still more caudally and with some overlapping, the MRs of the shin, thigh and pelvic-abdominal musculature, respectively.

Under the conditions of co-oxidation at a considerable excess of the co-substrate, Alcaligenes faecalis performs oxidative deamination of 3,4-dichloroaniline yielding 4,5-dichloropyrocatechol and cleaves its aromatic cycle. Formation of a chlorinated derivative of hydroxymuconic acid as an intermediate product, as well as the 100% liberation of chloride ions under these conditions, indicate that 3,4-dichloroaniline can be completely mineralized by A. faecalis.

Among 22 studied collection cultures belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, 11 cultures transformed 3,4-dichloraniline yielding 3,4-dichloroacetanilide in the absence of growth under the conditions of cometabolism; therefore, this capacity in rather typical of Pseudomonas cultures. A number of aliphatic and aromatic compounds were found to be effective cosubstrates of acetylation. Enzyme systems catalyzing the process of acetylation are constitutive.

As to the amino acids content the protein fractions differ from one another, with lysine level in albumin amounting to 4.
