Allergic asthma generally starts during early life and is linked to substantial tissue remodeling and lung dysfunction. Although angiogenesis is a feature of the disrupted airway, the impact of allergic asthma on the pulmonary microcirculation during early life is unknown. Here, using quantitative imaging in precision-cut lung slices (PCLSs), we report that exposure of neonatal mice to house dust mite (HDM) extract disrupts endothelial cell/pericyte interactions in adventitial areas.

Large-aperture Faraday isolator based on a terbium gallium garnet crystal.

Unique Faraday isolator based on a TGG single crystal with aperture diameter of 40 mm for high average power lasers has been fabricated and investigated experimentally. The device provides a stable isolation ratio over 30 dB for large-radius laser beams with kilowatt average power radiation typical for high-power applications.

B-chromosome and V-shaped spot asymmetry in the common frog (Rana temporaria L.) populations.

The common frog Rana temporaria is characterised by a large variety of colorations and dorsal patterns manifested by a V-shaped spot, which differs in the form, the number of elements and in the regularity. Some populations of R. temporaria are polymorphic for B-chromosome.

Compensation of polarization distortions in Faraday isolators by means of magnetic field inhomogeneity.

We propose a new type of Faraday isolator with compensation of the azimuthally symmetric component of polarization distortions by means of magnetic field inhomogeneity. The depolarization was attenuated in experiments by a factor of 7.

[Microbiocenosis of the human nasal mucous membrane in the conditions of industrial city].

In this work we studied the effect of industrial pollution on the mechanisms involved in the adaptation of the nasal microbiocenosis of healthy residents of the industrial city to external influences. In the given biotop composition of the microbiota and its biological properties, as well as the specific indicators of rhinocytogram and expression of TLR-2 and TLR-4 cells of the mucous membranes have been studied. Accommodation in relatively polluted industrial areas of the city induces an increase in the population of coagulase positive staphylococci and improve their adhesion activity, as well as strengthens destructive processes in the epithelium.

[B-cellular lymphoid follicles of gingival mucous membrane in cases of chronic apical periodontitis].

The structure of gingival mucous membrane leukocytal infiltration of 80 patients with chronic apical periodontitis of different age groups was studied by the light microscopy with the use of monoclonal antibodies to CD38. It was disclosed that in gingival tissues of practically all patients 2 types of leukocytal infiltration were present with low number of plasmatic cells and high number of neutrophils (true leukocytal infiltration) and structures with high number of plasmatic cells and low number of neutrophils - most likely lymphoid follicle resultant in mucous membranes of different organs in cases of chronic inflammation. In epithelial gingival paving in cases of chronic apical periodontitis CD38(+)-cells were absent.

[Formation of plasma cell infiltrates in gingiva of patients with chronic apical periodontitis].

The structure of leukocyte infiltrates in gingiva of 80 patients of various ages and gender with chronic apical periodontitis was studied using light microscopy with the application of monoclonal antibodies detecting CD38 antigen. Gingival tissues of practically of all the patients with periodontitis contained 2 types of leukocyte infiltrates: infiltrates with the low plasma cell content and high numbers of neutrophils and structures with high number of plasmocytes and low concentration of neutrophilic granulocytes. Within the gingival epithelium in patients with chronic apical periodontitis CD38 + cells were absent.

[Hygienic evaluation of hydrolytic lignin waste, by using alternative test models].

Chemical analysis showed that lignin samples contained phenols, phenanthrene, and methanol. The highest total content of organic compounds was noted in the lignin samples taken directly at a manufacturing plant. Phenols prevailed in the upper layers of stored lignin samples and methanol predominated in the lower ones.

[Estimation of potential mutagenic activity of 24-epibrassinolide].

Genotoxic effect of synthetic phytohormone analogue of steroid origin epibrassinolide was studied in in vitro- and in vivo-tests. Epibrassinolide did not display mutagenic properties in Ames' test (S. typhimurium, TA100) and DNA damaging activity test (DNA of phage lambda).

The level of aberrant cells in various tissues of bank vole depending on doses and radionuclide balance in organism.

A regression analysis shows the direct linear relation between 137Cs accumulation in rodents and the level of aberrant cells. For 90Sr this trend was negative. The dose relationship was the same with 137Cs.

An analysis of case histories of 854 patients operated upon for fractures of the proximal part of the femoral bone at the R.R. Vreden Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics for the period from September 1997 to December 2000 was made in order to assess the intrahospital lethality.

[Mechanisms of the optimization of oxygen metabolism under the effects of mafusol and mildronate during emergency implantation of hip prosthesis].

The results of using antihypoxants Mafusol and Mildronate in the course of emergency endoprosthesis of the hip joint were analyzed in 41 patients at the age of (80.5 +/- 5.6) years with fractures of the proximal part of the femoral bone.

[Chromosome aberrations in different tissues of the murine rodents and amphibians from radionuclide-contaminated regions of Belarus].

Cytogenetic investigations of amphibian and rodent populations from the contaminated by radionuclides regions of Belarus was conducted. A significant increase in the levels of cytogenetic anomalies in bone marrow cells and intestinal epithelium of amphibians and rodents, the levels of alveolar macrophages of rodents, and micronuclei in peripheral blood erythrocytes of amphibians was revealed. Presence of chromosome type aberrations indicates that radiation as a mutagenic factor was involved.

[The genetic monitoring of populations of brown frogs inhabiting radionuclide-contaminated regions of the Republic of Byelarus].

Genetic monitoring of brown frog populations inhabiting radiocontaminated areas of Belarus (contamination range: 177-2331 kBq/m2 for 137Cs; 3.7-284 kBq/m2 for 90Sr) has shown that the frequency of aberrant metaphases in bone marrow cells of animals from the contaminated areas is 3 to 10 times as much as that of the control, aberration load of cells being also higher. The aberration spectrum differs from a spontaneous one.

[Polymorphism for supernumerary chromosomes in populations of Rana temporaria L].

Occurrence of B-chromosomes in four populations of Rana temporaria L. in Minsk, its suburb and Berezinskiĭ biosphere reserve has been studied. The percentage of individuals with B-chromosomes and the average number of B-chromosomes per genome are shown to multiply increase in the population inhabiting for 40 years in the region polluted with waste products.
