A study was made of thromboplastin, antiheparin and antithrombin activity of the brain, heart and liver tissues of rats in experimental chronic alcoholization. Appreciable changes in the tissue factors of coagulation according to the dyscoagulemia type depending on the duration and gravity of alcoholic intoxication may aggravate hemostatic disorders.

In 49 patients with obstructive jaundice of various genesis progressive cholemic intoxication in absence of the effect from conventional detoxication therapy, the Stachyrene preparation, which contains as an effective agent the polyphenol compounds of Stachys recta L., was used. Various injuries to the sciatic nerve were modelled in experiments on 60 rats and 27 dogs to study the effect of paraaminomethylbenzoic acid on its regeneration; the efficacy of amben was compared with that of other agents used widely for the treatment of injuries to nerves. It was found that amben acts on the connective tissue of the neural scar and creates favourable conditions for growth of axons from the central to the peripheral stump of the injured nerve and accelerated their maturation.

The effect of drop infusions of 10% glucose solution for parenteral nutrition, in a dose of 2 g/kg, on bile secretion was studied in experiments on dogs with chronic gallbladder-duodenal fistulas. It was demonstrated that the infusion of hypertonic glucose solution inhibits bile production quantitatively and qualitatively.
