Background: Developing effective therapies for cough in lung cancer is an unmet need Neuromodulators like pregabalin may act centrally as cough suppressants.
Methods: Randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study in patients with locally advanced/metastatic lung cancer and at least 2 weeks of moderate or severe cough. Randomization was 1:1 to pregabalin 300 mg orally daily or matching placebo, both administered for 9 weeks.
Background: Infections with Soil-transmitted Helminths (STHs) impact about 24% of the global population. A disproportionate number of individuals, particularly those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, live in emerging nations. In India, between the ages of one and fourteen, almost 220 million children are susceptible to intestinal worm infestations caused by parasites.

Objective: To evaluate trends in mortality rates across specific intervals after hospitalization.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study evaluated a random sample of Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with incident HF hospitalization from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2018.
Introduction: Titanium implants are commonly used for surgical fixation in orthopedic trauma, and have many benefits compared to stainless steel implants. Despite these benefits, some orthopedic surgeons remain hesitant to use titanium implants due to concerns of difficulty with future implant removal, given concerns with cold-welding and screw strippage. The objective of this study was to assess difficulties associated with titanium plate and screw implant removal.

Both can produce cardiac autonomic neuropathythat can be measured by ECG RR interval-based heart rate variability (HRV). We compared 5 minutes HRV in four groups based on diabetes and hypertension.

Catheter ablation is a treatment option for ES but can be challenging in unstable cardiovascular patients. We present the case of a 50-year-old patient with poor left ventricular function who experienced ES after emergency coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

The former can be studied by qualitative body fat analysis using bio-electrical impedance (BIA) and later with blood pressure by pulse wave analysis (PWA). We studied the association between BIA and PWA parameters in T2Ds.

In polyglutamine diseases, the target proteins become aberrated due to polyglutamine repeat formation. These aberrant proteins form the root cause of associated complications.

Arterial stiffness (AS) provides beyond brachial BP inference on vascular ageing and pulse wave analysis (PWA) can measure it non-invasively.We compared association between AS and PHT using age and gender matched case-controls.

Pulmonary thromboendoarterectomy (PTE) can be a curative procedure, but balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) has emerged as an option for poor surgical candidates. We used the National Inpatient Sample to query patients who underwent PTE or BPA between 2012 and 2019 with CTEPH.

While the clinical relevance of the presence of anatomic variations of the deltoid origin and insertion continues to be debated, the architecture of the deltoid muscle is more complex than initially believed. This study aimed to evaluate the gross anatomy of the deltoid muscle insertion by qualitatively and quantitatively characterizing the insertion and location of the deltoid muscle's anterior, middle, and posterior components.

These larger tears have shown a quadruple increase in retear rate when the tear size grows from 1-3 cm. The prevalent cause of failure, particularly in tears with fatty degeneration, is suture tearing.

We looked to assess the odds of VTE subtypes among hospitalized individuals with IBD as compared to those without IBD.
Materials & Methods: Using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample database, we applied a multivariable regression analysis to compare the odds of primary VTE-related hospitalizations among individuals with and without IBD from 2016 to 2020, including deep venous thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), portal vein thrombosis (PVT), Budd Chiari syndrome (BCS), renal vein thrombosis (RVT), and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST).
Chronic consumption of a high-calorie diet coupled with an altered sleep-wake cycle causes disruption of circadian clock that can impact the gut microbiome leading to metabolic syndrome and associated diseases. Herein, we investigate the effects of a high fat high fructose diet (H) alone or in combination with photoperiodic shifts induced chronodisruption (CD) on gut microbiota of C57BL/6J male mice. Further, the merits of daily evening intraperitoneal administration of melatonin in restoring gut microbiota are studied herein.

When a meniscal tear involves the posterior horn, the meniscus loses one of its attachments to the tibia and can become extruded from the joint. Stener-like lesions of the knee have been reported throughout the literature; however, they have been exclusively described as a distal tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) lying superficial to the pes anserine tendon which prevents anatomic healing.

We report the case of a male in his twenties who was prescribed 10 mg of zolpidem daily for sleep disturbances. Within one month, he self-augmented the dose to 30 mg daily. Unable to secure an authorized refill, he sought unauthorized suppliers and increased his daily intake to 70 mg over eight months.

Four weeks later, he presented to the emergency room with symptoms consistent with delirium. After ruling out acute intoxication with a substance and neurological causes, collateral information from the family and review of his medical chart indicated potential discontinuation syndrome owing to pregabalin.

Multiple transcriptional-translational feedback loops control circadian-clockwork wherein; micro RNAs (miRNAs) are known to manifest post transcriptional regulation. This study assesses miR34a-5p as a mediating biomolecule.

Diagnosis is difficult, and patients often present with metastatic disease. We report the rare case of a patient with cardiac angiosarcoma who presents with constrictive physiology due to tumour encasement.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that during the COVID-19 pandemic in the US, some hospitals experienced capacity constraints while others in the same market had surplus capacity, a phenomenon known as "load imbalance." Our study evaluated the prevalence of intensive care unit load imbalance and the characteristics of hospitals most likely to be over capacity while other nearby hospitals were under capacity.
