The Latarjet procedure is a frequently used stabilization procedure in case of anterior shoulder instability with critical glenoid bone loss and/or off-track Hill Sachs lesions. Although uncommon, intra-operative graft fractures do occur. When confronted with this potentially challenging intra-operative complication, having a secondary solution is paramount to achieve a successful outcome.

Using standard-length compactors to implant short humeral stems in total shoulder arthroplasty: A cadaver study of humeral stem alignment.

Background: Short-stem implants in shoulder arthroplasty were recently developed and reported clinical outcomes are good. However, radiological analysis often reveals humeral stem misalignment in the frontal plane, along with high filling ratios that can lead to proximal bone remodeling under stress shielding. The aim of this cadaveric study was to test whether using compactors for standard-length (> 100 mm) stems to implant short (< 100 mm) stems reduces the risk of stem misalignment without compromising in terms of a higher filling ratio.

Congenital Myofibroblastic Skin Tumours in a Newborn Piglet Resembling the Multicentric Form of Infantile Myofibromatosis.

A 2-day-old female piglet was submitted with multiple congenital, nodular skin masses located on the head, neck, trunk and legs. Histopathological examination revealed the presence of nodular, cutaneous tumours with a biphasic growth pattern and comprising a population of undifferentiated, oval or slightly polygonal, frequently perivascularly located cells and a population of spindle-shaped, fibroblast-like cells arranged in bundles. Multifocally, tumour cells infiltrated subcutaneous adipose and muscular tissue.

Lameness in fattening pigs - Mycoplasma hyosynoviae, osteochondropathy and reduced dietary phosphorus level as three influencing factors: a case report.

Background: Multiple diagnostic procedures, their results and interpretation in a case with severe lameness in fattening pigs are described. It is shown that selected diagnostic steps lead to identification of various risk factors for disease development in the affected herd. One focus of this case report is the prioritization of diagnostic steps to verify the impact of the different conditions, which finally led to the clinical disorder.

Bioaccumulation of substances is usually considered unfavourable but so far a relation with toxicity at low dose exposure is insufficiently investigated to draw conclusions on the relevance of bioaccumulation at low dose exposure. In this manuscript it is investigated which physical chemical properties are related to bioaccumulation in order to predict accumulating properties of a substance, and is evaluated if the toxicity of known bioaccumulating substances is higher than for non-accumulating substances.
