The presence of strong barriers to research participation for Black women is indisputable. However, existing evidence supports the possibility of equal levels of participation among members of minoritized populations in past breast cancer (BC) clinical trials (CTs), demonstrating that while these participation barriers undoubtedly exist but are not insurmountable. This work aims to investigate patient-provider conversations to try to illuminate how providers can better engage Black women in communication that will positively influence their perceptions of breast cancer clinical trial participation.

Study Design: We compared pre- and postutilization patterns during a 3-year period by evaluating risk-adjusted national, state, and other BPCI participant comparisons using a difference-in-differences (DID) analysis in a large urban community tertiary center with a CABG surgery program. Included in the analysis were all Medicare patients receiving CABG surgery at the institution (n = 504), across the nation (n = 213,423), and at other BPCI institutions (n = 4939).

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced inflammatory arthritis (ICI-IA) poses a major clinical challenge to ICI therapy for cancer, with 13% of cases halting ICI therapy and ICI-IA being difficult to identify for timely referral to a rheumatologist. The objective of this study was to rapidly identify ICI-IA patients in clinical data and assess associated immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and risk factors.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of the electronic health records (EHRs) of 89 patients who developed ICI-IA out of 2451 cancer patients who received ICI therapy at Northwestern University between March 2011 to January 2021.
