However, traditional HEMs catalysts are nonporous, limiting their activity to surface sites. Designing HEMs with intrinsic porosity can open the door toward enhanced reactivity while maintaining the many benefits of high configurational entropy.

This article introduces the integrated behavioral model of mental health help seeking (IBM-HS), a theoretical model for understanding the constructs (e.g., systemic, predisposing, and enabling factors; mental health literacy; illness perceptions; perceived need; stigma; shame; perceived benefits, motivation) that influence people's decision making around seeking professional mental health care and their ultimate access to formal treatment.

Investigating the cognitive and affective dynamics of social media addiction: Insights from peer contexts.

Informed by the interaction of person-affect-cognition-execution (I-PACE) theory, the present studies examined the association between peer rejection, peer popularity, and social media addiction (SMA) at both between-person and within-person levels. Two distinct processes, the fear-driven/compensation-seeking process and the reward-driven process were explored. In Study 1, using a cross-sectional sample of high school students ( = 318), both processes were supported via different cognitive mediators.

A Comparison of Virtual Reality Menu Archetypes: Raycasting, Direct Input, and Marking Menus.

We contribute an analysis of the prevalence and relative performance of archetypal VR menu techniques. An initial survey of 108 menu interfaces in 84 popular commercial VR applications establishes common design characteristics. These characteristics motivate the design of raycast, direct, and marking menu archetypes, and a two-experiment comparison of their relative performance with one and two levels of hierarchy using 8 or 24 items.

Structural snapshots of phenuivirus cap-snatching and transcription.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is a human pathogen that is now endemic to several East Asian countries. The viral large (L) protein catalyzes viral transcription by stealing host mRNA caps via a process known as cap-snatching. Here, we establish an in vitro cap-snatching assay and present three high-quality electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of the SFTSV L protein in biologically relevant, transcription-specific states.

Probabilistic stimulation mapping from intra-operative thalamic deep brain stimulation data in essential tremor.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD) and essential tremor (ET). The mechanism of action of DBS is still incompletely understood. Retrospective group analysis of intra-operative data recorded from ET patients implanted in the ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus (Vim) is rare.

Current global status of male reproductive health.

Background: The widespread interest in male reproductive health (MRH), fueled by emerging evidence, such as the global decline in sperm counts, has intensified concerns about the status of MRH. Consequently, there is a pressing requirement for a strategic, systematic approach to identifying critical questions, collecting pertinent information, and utilizing these data to develop evidence-based strategies. The methods for addressing these questions and the pathways toward their answers will inevitably vary based on the variations in cultural, geopolitical, and health-related contexts.

Background: Alterations in the experience of controlling oneself and one's environment are of high relevance to understanding the psychopathology of depression. This study investigated the relationship between Temporal Binding for action-event sequences, sense of agency, self-efficacy and symptom severity in Major Depressive Disorder.

Method: We employed the Sense of Agency Scale (SoAS) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) to assess explicit Sense of Agency and self-efficacy in a group of 42 persons diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) [20 identifying as female, 19 as male; mean age 37.

Impaired recognition of interactive intentions in adults with autism spectrum disorder not attributable to differences in visual attention or coordination via eye contact and joint attention.

Altered nonverbal communication patterns especially with regard to gaze interactions are commonly reported for persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this study we investigate and differentiate for the first time the interplay of attention allocation, the establishment of shared focus (eye contact and joint attention) and the recognition of intentions in gaze interactions in adults with ASD compared to control persons. Participants interacted via gaze with a virtual character (VC), who they believed was controlled by another person.

Pediatric Sedation in Dutch Dental Clinics: The Influence of Guideline Modifications on Adverse Events.

: Dental fear and uncooperative behavior can hinder dental treatment quality. Pediatric Procedural Sedation and Analgesia (PPSA) is used to facilitate treatment when the coping capacity is exceeded. Out-of-hospital PPSA has been associated with more adverse outcomes compared to when it is used in hospital-based settings.

Refixation of the anterior cruciate ligament: A biomechanical analysis of suture techniques in a porcine model.

Purpose: Refixation of acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears represents an increasingly popular treatment option. Systematic evaluations of various suture technique parameters are still pending. We therefore aimed to evaluate the mechanical pull-out outcomes of various suture methods for optimization of ACL refixation.

Advanced Ti-Nb-Ta Alloys for Bone Implants with Improved Functionality.

The additive manufacturing of titanium-niobium-tantalum alloys with nominal chemical compositions Ti-xNb-6Ta (x = 20, 27, 35) by means of laser beam powder bed fusion is reported, and their potential as implant materials is elaborated by mechanical and biological characterization. The properties of dense specimens manufactured in different build orientations and of open porous Ti-20Nb-6Ta specimens are evaluated. Compression tests indicate that strength and elasticity are influenced by the chemical composition and build orientation.

Quest for Multifunctionality: Current Progress in the Characterization of Heterometallic Metal-Organic Frameworks.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous, crystalline materials that have been systematically developed for a broad range of applications. Incorporation of two or more metals into a single crystalline phase to generate heterometallic MOFs has been shown to lead to synergistic effects, in which the whole is oftentimes greater than the sum of its parts. Because geometric proximity is typically required for metals to function cooperatively, deciphering and controlling metal distributions in heterometallic MOFs is crucial to establish structure-function relationships.

ADHD medicine consumption in Europe after COVID-19: catch-up or trend change?

Background: Although the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications have been associated with mental health services utilization and medication consumption, there is no longitudinal study on the long-term impact on ADHD medication use trends.

Methods: This study examines the European ADHD medication consumption in 2020 to 2022 compared to the predicted consumption assuming the persistence of pre-pandemic trends. Predictions are calculated using Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) models.

Keratometry Changes Between Year One to Seven After Corneal Cross-Linking in Patients With Keratoconus.

Purpose: We evaluated the timing at and extent to which midterm to long-term keratometric changes can occur in year 1 to 7 after corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) in patients with keratoconus.

Methods: We conducted a subgroup analysis of a retrospective cohort study of all consecutive patients who underwent CXL at our cornea center between 2007 and 2011. The inclusion criteria comprised CXL according to the Dresden protocol and a full set of keratometry parameters collected by Scheimpflug tomography preoperatively and at year 1, 3, 5, and 7 after CXL.

Policy makers believe money motivates more than it does.

To motivate contributions to public goods, should policy makers employ financial incentives like taxes, fines, subsidies, and rewards? While these are widely considered as the classic policy approach, a substantial academic literature suggests the impact of financial incentives is not always positive; they can sometimes fail or even backfire. To test whether policy makers are overly bullish about financial incentives, we asked county heads, mayors, and municipal government representatives of medium-to-large towns in Germany to predict the effects of a financial incentive on COVID-19 vaccination, and tested the exact same incentive in a field experiment involving all 41,548 inhabitants (clustered in 10,032 addresses) of the German town of Ravensburg. Whereas policy makers overwhelmingly predict that the financial incentive will increase vaccination-by 15.

Limited high-throughput screening compatibility of the phenuivirus cap-binding domain.

Bunyaviruses constitute a large and diverse group of viruses encompassing many emerging pathogens, such as Rift Valley fever virus (family Phenuiviridae), with public and veterinary health relevance but with very limited medical countermeasures are available. RNA to Rule Them All: Critical Steps in Lassa Virus Ribonucleoparticle Assembly and Recruitment.

Lassa virus is a negative-strand RNA virus with only four structural proteins that causes periodic outbreaks in West Africa. The nucleoprotein (NP) encapsidates the viral genome, forming ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) together with the viral RNA and the L protein. RNPs must be continuously restructured during viral genome replication and transcription.

Pre-clinical characterization of a novel flexible surface stem design for total knee replacements.

Primary stability is crucial for implant osseointegration and the long-term stability of cementless total joint replacements. Biomechanical studies have shown the potential of femoral stems for total knee replacements to reduce micromotions at the bone-implant interface. However, approaches such as focusing on the structural elasticity of the femoral stems are rarely described.

Computer-based analysis of the taper connection strength of different revision head and adapter sleeve designs.

Objectives: Ceramic revision heads, equipped with titanium adapter sleeves, are used in femoral head revision in total hip arthroplasty to avoid ceramic fracture due to the damaged taper.

Methods: A finite element analysis of the taper connection strength of revision heads with varying head diameters combined with adapter sleeves of different lengths was conducted. The influence of various assembly forces, head diameter, and length of the adapter sleeves was evaluated.
