This study aimed to identify the most stably expressed reference genes from a panel of 32 candidate genes for normalization of reverse transcription-quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction data in cancerous and non-cancerous tissues of human uterine cervix. Overall, PUM1, YWHAZ, and RPLP0 were identified as the most stably expressed genes in paired cancerous and non-cancerous tissues. The results were further stratified by the state of malignancy of the tissues, histopathological type of the cancer, and the human papillomavirus-type.

The objective of this case-control study was to determine anthropometric and reproductive factors associated with the development of breast cancer among women. Fifty-six newly diagnosed breast cancer patients were recruited from the Oncology Clinic, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and 56 healthy female hospital employees were recruited as controls. Socio-demographic and reproductive data were obtained using a standard questionnaire.

The inhibitory protein IκBα, encoded by the NFKBIA gene, plays an important role in regulating the activity of nuclear factor-kappa B, a transcription factor which has been implicated in the initiation and progression of cancers. This study aimed to evaluate the association of NFKBIA -826C>T (rs2233406) and -881A>G (rs3138053) polymorphisms with the risk of sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC) in Malaysian population. Purpose: To describe a rare case of soft tissue plasmacytoma of the orbit presenting with proptosis.

Results: A 57 year-old Malay lady presented with right eye proptosis of 3 weeks' duration. It was associated with pain, redness and progressive blurring of vision.

A 15-year-old girl, who was previously well, complained of a mass in the abdomen after a minor motor vehicle accident. Physical and radiological investigations revealed a mass in the body of pancreas containing proteinaceous material and multiple nodules in both lobes of liver. Serological investigations for malignancy were normal.
