The pS273R protease of the African swine fever virus (ASFV) is responsible for the processing of the viral polyproteins pp220 and pp62, precursors of the internal capsid of the virus. The protease is essential for a productive viral infection and is an attractive target for antiviral therapy. This work presents a method for the production of pS273R in E.

Introduction: African swine fever virus (ASF) is a large, enveloped virus with an icosahedral capsid morphology and a double-stranded DNA genome ranging in size from 170 to 190 kb. The replication cycle proceeds in two phases, the early phase lasting 4-6 hours and the late 8-20 hours after infection. The adaptation of the ASF virus to growth in continuous cell lines makes efficient and reliable genetic analysis and more accurate interpretation of its results.

Introduction: Prevention and control of African swine fever (ASF) transmission on the territory of the Russian Federation requires monitoring based on testing of samples from pigs and wild boars. Specific anti-ASFV antibodies are rarely detected in samples during routine serological diagnostics. Although, ASF isolates with weakened virulence were confirmed in Russia and neighboring countries.

This review presents the current state of the problem of development and application of the specific prevention of African swine fever (ASF) with a brief description of its etiology and pathogenesis. The unique nature of the ASF virus (ASFV) determines some limitations and the complexity of solving the problem of vaccine development. Such situation stimulated the development of highly specific diagnostic methods for rapid and accurate detection of the ASFV.

Introduction: The causative agent of African swine fever (Asfarviridae: Asfivirus: African swine fever virus) (ASF) is a double-stranded DNA virus of 175-215 nm. To date, 24 of its genotypes are known. Clustering of ASF genotype II isolates is carried out by examining a limited number of selected genome markers.

Background: There is insufficient information in the literature on the comparative efficacy and tolerability of methotrexate (MTX) and methylprednisolone (MP) in patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis in assessing primary outcomes and the relapse rate.

Purpose: The aim of our study was to evaluate primary and long-term outcomes of using MTX and MP in patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis.

Methods: A total of 143 patients with newly diagnosed pulmonary sarcoidosis, verified by high-resolution computed tomography (CT) data, were examined.

Long-term outcomes of glucocorticosteroid therapy in pulmonary sarcoidosis patients testify for high rate of relapses, which nowadays are the most acute problem in providing care to these patients. Aim - to study clinical factors, associated with pulmonary sarcoidosis relapse. 108 patients with newly diagnosed pulmonary sarcoidosis were examined (stage II - 102 patients, stage III - 6 patients).

In this study, we report on the full genome phylogenetic analysis of four ASFV isolates obtained from wild boars in Russia. These samples originated from two eastern and two western regions of Russia in 2019. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the isolates were assigned to genotype II and grouped according to their geographical origins.

The growing interest in gene therapy is coupled with the strong need for the development of safe and efficient gene transfection vectors. A composite based on chitosan and fumed silica has been found to be a prospective gene delivery carrier. This study presents an investigation of the nature of the bonds between a series of nucleotides with a chitosan layer deposited on a fumed silica surface.

Biological properties of the African swine fever (ASF) virus isolates originating from various regions of the Russian Federation (2013-2018) were studied in a series of experimental infections. Comparative analysis allowed us to establish the differences in the key characteristics of the infection, such us the duration of the incubation periods, disease, and the onset of death. The incubation period averaged 4.

Introduction: African swine fever (ASF), sever hemorrhagic disease of swine caused by a large DNA virus of the Asfaviridae family. Since there are no effective and safe vaccines against ASF yet, it is urgent to study the functions of its proteins, which is applicable by analyzing the features of ASF virus replication in the presence of recombinant proteins in vitro.

Purpose: To study the effect of ASFV recombinant proteins CD2v, pE248R and pX69R on the speed and level of reproduction of ASF virus in vitro.

The authors report a case of the interstitial disease of the lungs revealed by a histological study that demonstrated intravital diagnostic faults in the patient in question. Moreover, a postmortem diagnostic error occurred; namely, the macroscopic study of the thoracic organs had shown the 0.5 cm long linear rupture of the adhesion in the right lung root region that was considered to be the cause of hemothorax and anemia of the internal organs which supposedly resulted in the patient's death.

The content and the ratio of phytohormones, the activity of enzymes-antioxidants and lipid peroxidation, contents of proline and carotenoids in potato plants under the action of colchicines have been investigated. We have identified specific changes in hormonal balance of the plant initiated by the destructor of microtubules, colchicines (1 mM). We have found significant decreased in the amount of indoleacetic acid and zeatin, increase in the content of abscisic acid, no changes in the level of gibberellic acid, a decreased in the ratio between hormones-stimulants and abscisic acid.

Contemporary concepts on a possible mechanism of erythrocyte hemolysis induced by photooxidized psoralen - the medicinal photosensitizing furocoumarin - are reviewed. The hypothesis on the mechanochemical mechanism of hemolysis is considered in view of recent data on photoinduced aggregation in photooxidized psoralen solutions. Appropriate chemical structures of photoproduct hemolysins and aggregating photoproducts are discussed.

Acquired resistance to antituberculosis drugs decreases effective treatment options and the likelihood of treatment success. We identified risk factors for acquisition of drug resistance during treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) and evaluated the effect on treatment outcomes. Data were collected prospectively from adults from Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, who had pulmonary MDR TB during 2005-2008.

The goal of this work was to demonstrate the results of the development of the enzyme-linked immunosorbent tests with chemiluminescence detection and colorimetric detection of specific viral antigens and antibodies for identifying the avian influenza and the Newcastle disease viruses: high sensitivity and specificity of the immuno- chemiluminescence assay, which are 10-50 times higher than those of the ELISA colorimetric method. The high effectiveness of the results and the automation of the process of laboratory testing (using a luminometer) allow these methods to be recommended for including in primary screening tests for these infectious diseases.

Interaction between the goethite surface and 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid (MCPA) herbicide was studied using density functional theory (DFT) calculations combined with molecular dynamics (MD). The important step made here lies in the use of a periodic DFT method enabling the study of a mineral surface of different protonation states, in strong contrast with previous molecular modeling studies limited to single protonation state corresponding to the point of zero charge. Different surface OH groups and MCPA proton states were used to mimic the strong effects of pH on the outer- and inner-sphere surface complexes that are theoretically possible, together with their binding energies, and their bond lengths.
