Childhood vision screening programmes in Europe differ by age, frequency and location at which the child is screened, and by the professional who performs the test. The aim of this study is to compare the cost-effectiveness for three countries with different health care structures. We developed a microsimulation model of amblyopia.

Methods: Objectives, target population and screening protocol were defined.
Acanthamoeba keratitis is a rare, chronic, mainly contact lens-related infection caused by a free-living amoeba found ubiquitously in water and soil. A case of a 9-year-old child, who presented to our clinic with painful, red left eye, associated with photophobia, and decreased visual acuity, wais reported. The clinical examination revealed a discoid opacity inferiorly bounded by a dense, gray infiltrate.

Methods: Multifractal analysis using a box counting algorithm was carried out for a set of 12 segmented and skeletonized human retinal images, corresponding to both normal (6 images) and amblyopia states of the retina (6 images).
Results: It was found that the microvascular geometry of the human retina network represents geometrical multifractals, characterized through subsets of regions having different scaling properties that are not evident in the fractal analysis.
Mobius syndrom, an anomaly in cranial nerve developement, presents with a remarkable clinical polymorphism. The rare occurence of this pathology and the questions raised by the diagnosis and treatment determined us to make this presentation.

The orbital injury ends with a foreign body (fragment of a pencil) in the orbit. The situation and the orientation of the foreign body was revealed by the computer tomography and the MIMICS program.

Material And Methods: Fifty children with amblyopia were treated in the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department of the Ophthalmological Cllnic in Cluj. Full time occlusion was used in all children.
The paper underlines the importance of the imagistic examination in the diagnosis and the therapeutical orientation in an orbital injury in a four year old child. The orbital injury ends with a foreign body (fragment of a pencil) in the orbit. The situation and the orientation of the foreign body was reveled by the computer tomography and the MIMICS program.

Why do some ROPs still go wrong, in spite of laser therapy? 2. What can we do about it?
Material/method: A retrospective study has been performed, including the 21 prematurely newborns that have been treated by laser photocoagulation, for ROP, in Cluj-Napoca, between April 2006-September 2007.
Purpose: The study aims to evaluate the ROP, the factors that influence this disease in very low birth weight newborns that are included in the neonatal screening program.
Material And Method: It is a retrospective study performed on 82 preterm newborns managed by The Neonatology Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic I from Cluj over a period of 15 months. There were assessed: prenatal factors, birth, perinatal pathology, therapy received, incidence of ROP and the necessity for laser therapy The statistical analysis has been performed in Epi 6.
The paper analyzes the situations when, in strabismus surgery, major gestures (important muscular displacement) are indicated. It is emphasized the surgical strategy and the results in 35 patients operated on in the Ophthalmologic Clinic in Cluj between June 2005 and June 2006.

Material And Method: In the last three years, four cases of post cataract surgery diplopia have been diagnosed in the Ophthalmological Clinic of Cluj.
This paper presents the case of a man with resulting diplopia due to multiple lesions of the extraocular muscles after an orbital trauma. The intact ocular globe has an horizonto-vertical strabismus. Purpose was the reduction of diplopia in primary gaze.
