In the framework of mean field approximation, we consider a spin system consisting of two interacting sub-ensembles. The intra-ensemble interactions are ferromagnetic, while the inter-ensemble interactions are antiferromagnetic. We define the effective number of the nearest neighbors and show that if the two sub-ensembles have the same effective number of the nearest neighbors, the classical form of critical exponents (α=0, β=1/2, γ=γ'=1, δ=3) gives way to the non-classical form (α=0, β=3/2, γ=γ'=0, δ=1), and the scaling function changes simultaneously.

Lake Vostok is the deepest lake of Antarctica but has poor accessibility for study due to a thick glacial cover, however, water samples of this lake have become available for study just recently. Previously, only the microbiome of the ice cover samples was characterized. Here we report results of bacteriological seeding with subsequent identification of the heterotrophic microorganisms (bacteria and micellar fungi) present by 16S rDNA sequencing as well as results of a direct molecular study of the water microbiome.

This method is applicable for both short-range and long-range interactions. We introduce a small parameter, which determines whether the method can be used when calculating the free energy.

It is well known that SIC is an origin of stress relaxation, which appears as a plateau in the intermediate strain region of stress-strain curves. However, this SIC is very hard to implement in models because SIC is directly connected to a solid state, which is mechanically very different from the amorphous state.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo novel pyrimidine derivatives, RG2 and RG6, were studied using a rat's model of peripheral nerve injury. Toe-spreading reflex and skin sensitivity to pinch in the foot were monitored to follow recovery of motor and sensory functions in the treated animals. The remyelation rate in the distal segment of the damaged nerve was also studied using morphological analysis of cross-sections of the nerve stained with methylene blue.
