Only 4 cases of granular cell tumor of the thyroid have been previously reported in the English literature. We report herein the fifth case of this uncommon neoplasm and the first one affecting a male patient. The tumor was well circumscribed and located to the left thyroid lobe, near the isthmus.

Recently the term of micropapillary serous carcinoma was introduced (CSMP) to define a subtype of serous tumors that are characterized for a micropapillary grow pattern and that clinically associated with a more aggressive behavior than the classic TSL since they have an increased risk of invasion, recurrence and extraovarian tumor implantation. The majority of these cases are included within the serous bordering tumors of ovary, being the truly invasive tumors even more infrequent and with more aggressive clinical course.
