Background: Incidence of, and potential risk factors for, postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction (POGD) after gastrointestinal procedures performed in US hospitals were examined.
Methods: This retrospective study used hospital discharge data of inpatients who underwent ≥1 gastrointestinal procedures from 1-Jan-2016 to 30-Apr-2019. POGD incidence was calculated based on all hospitalizations for MDC-06 procedures.
Unlabelled: Reducing emergency room (ER) use may indicate the improved quality of patient care at index hospitalization. The aim of this study is to determine whether the use of near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging with indocyanine green (ICG) during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery is associated with a lowered 90-day all-cause ER use.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study included adult patients with inpatient hospitalizations between January 2016 and June 2020 for an isolated CABG procedure at a US hospital.
The aim was to describe inpatients with COVID-19 empirically prescribed heparinoid anticoagulants and compare resource utilization between prophylactic/low-dose and therapeutic/high-dose groups. This retrospective observational study used real-world data from 880 US hospitals in the PINC AI™ Healthcare Database during 4/1/2020-11/30/2020. Descriptive analysis was used to characterize patients.

Background: Remote monitoring (RM) of defibrillators (implantable cardioverter defibrillators [ICDs]) and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (CRTDs) has been shown to be cost effective, convenient, and associated with reduced mortality and a reduction in the time to physician intervention for actionable events. However, patient compliance with monitoring over time and what factors might influence such compliance have not been well described. This study sought to identify factors contributing to patient noncompliance with RM of ICDs and CRTDs in a large real-world population.
