Background: Understanding of equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) myeloencephalopathy (EHM) is complicated by disparities among studies.
Objective: Compare clinical findings and outcome in horses involved in 2 recent EHM outbreaks.
Animals: Twenty-five and 10 horses affected during 2 natural EHM outbreaks were admitted to a veterinary teaching hospital (VTH) in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
Background: Health disparities related to socio-economic factors impact access to preventive health interventions. The PRECEDE-PROCEED model, a multidimensional approach to health promotion, has been adapted to optimise cancer screening programs in Lombardy, Italy, addressing these disparities.
Methods: This study evaluated the application of systemic audits based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED model across Lombardy cancer screening programs.
Objectives: Our study aimed to investigate how physical activity (PA) changes over an 11-year follow-up among adults from different socioeconomic positions (SEP) near retirement age. Moreover, an analysis of different PA types is considered.
Methods: We used data from the EPIC-Italy cohort.
Purpose: To evaluate the reproducibility of SIMPLE (Single field Image Multi Parameters defined Lesions Extent), a new Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) classification for screening of 45° single field fundus pictures of patients with diabetes (PwDM), assessing DR, Diabetic Maculopathy (DMac) and referral rate agreement and comparing it to current Italian Guidelines (IG).
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective, observational, multicentre study, collecting 1000 retinal 45° single field images of PwDM obtained during routine visits in two diabetes clinics. Three ophthalmologists evaluated each image, determining the presence and number of specific DR lesions and then assigning a stage according to the current IG for screening.
Background: The aim of this work was to optimize a three-dimensional (3D) turbo-spin-echo (TSE) sequence using a small field-of-view (FOV) technique for the study of the cerebellopontine angle and to compare it with a constructive interference steady-state (CISS) sequence.
Methods: A total of 30 consecutive patients underwent magnetic resonance imaging with a 3Tesla (T) scanner, including 3D CISS and the optimized 3D small FOV technique turbo spin echo (3D SFT-TSE) T2-weighted sequences for the study of the cerebellopontine angle. The 3D SFT-TSE sequence was optimized after three different steps, and a quantitative evaluation of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) was obtained according to the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) method.
The use of allogeneic blood products to restore hemostasis during pediatric cardiac surgery is associated with major risks. Consequently, there has been a growing interest in new patient blood management strategies, such as those based on the use of fibrinogen concentrate (FC). Accumulating evidence has shown FC supplementation to be safe and effective.

Aim: This study evaluates the efficacy of three different instructional modalities aimed at teaching veterinary students how to make simple suture knots.
Methods: A cohort of 43 fourth-year students were split into 3 groups and provided with different instructional modalities: presentation with pictures and descriptions, hard copy text, and muted video.
This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation (tAVNS) in healthy horses and its effect on heart rate variability (HRV). The study comprised three phases: the selection of mares, their acclimatization to the tAVNS, and the stimulation phase. Stimulation was performed with two electrodes positioned on the right pinna.

The attributed benefits of these changes have been linked to improved athletic performance, enhanced muscle flexibility and fastening recovery from exercise-induced fatigue. For all of this, the present research aims to investigate whether the application of CRET 24 h before exercise affects the accelerometric pattern in horses during exercise.

Topological phenomena are intimately connected to the distribution of information content that, differently from ordinary matter, is now governed by nonlocal degrees of freedom. However, a precise characterization of how topological effects govern the complexity of a many-body state, i.

Discrepancies have been reported in the differential cell count when different staining methods were used both in humans and horses. The objective of this study was to compare the results of BALF cytology in donkeys using four different staining methods: modified May-Grunwald Giemsa (mMGG), Diff-Quick (DQ), Toluidine blue (TB) and Perls Prussian blue (PPB).

It remains unclear how structure and function are related and whether this has any clinical relevance. In the present work, we adopted a novel methodological approach investigating how network structural features influence the large-scale dynamics.

Currently, there are no established guidelines for children with acute kidney injury treated with continuous kidney replacement therapy. Our objective was to create clinical practice points for nutritional assessment and management in critically ill children with acute kidney injury receiving continuous kidney replacement therapy.

Being able to abruptly increase the atmospheric ionization, they might deplete stratospheric ozone on a global scale. During the last decades, an average of more than one Gamma-ray-burst per day were recorded.

Facial expressions are the most investigated pain behavior features for APA. We constructed a binary classifier model for discriminating between the absence and presence of pain through video analysis.

Here, we test the prediction that specific types of momentary emotional experiences are differently linked to psychological well-being during the pandemic. Study 1 used survey data collected from 24,221 participants in 51 countries during the COVID-19 outbreak. We show that, across countries, well-being is linked to individuals' recent emotional experiences, including calm, hope, anxiety, loneliness, and sadness.

Furthermore, modern students are using online devices for daily activities, and this has a challenging side effect for educators, as many people these days can only maintain their focus if topics are discussed in concise and engaging ways. For these reasons, there is growing interest in the use of games for educational purposes.

Triple I (intrauterine inflammation, infection, or both, TI) has been proposed to reduce the overdiagnosis of infection and neonatal overtreatment. The aim of this study is to identify clinical and histological variables that could predict adverse outcomes when TI is suspected and/or confirmed.
