COMPARISON OF STANDARD COAGULATION TESTS AND ROTATIONAL THROMBOELASTOMETRY FOR HEMOSTATIC SYSTEM MONITORING DURING ORTHOTOPIC LIVER TRANSPLANTATION - RESULTS FROM A PILOT STUDY.

Introduction: During liver transplantation, continuous laboratory monitoring of complex changes of the hemostatic system is necessary. The aim of this study was to compare two methods of monitoring: standard coagulation tests and rotational thromboelastometry.

Material And Methods: The study included 17 patients who had undergone orthotopic liver transplantation in the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, Serbia in the period from June 2008 to October 2012.

[Incidence of complications of antithrombotic treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation].

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of ischemic stroke five fold, while the application of long-term anticoagulant therapy is associated with the occurrence of hemorrhagic complications. The aim of our study was to evaluate the incidence of thrombotic and hemorrhagic complications in patients with atrial fibrillation during antithrombotic treatment.

Material And Methods: The study included 504 patients that were administered the primary (n=345) or secondary thromboprophylaxis after ischemic stroke (n=159), by applying vitamin K antagonists, or the combination of vitamin K antagonists and low-dose aspirin.

Laboratory monitoring of the haemostatic system changes during orthotopic liver transplantation.

Introduction: In liver diseases, all components of the haemostatic system are changed and the degree of dysfunction is proportional to hepatocellular damage. During the liver transplantation, values of haemostatic parameters show substantial changes, while postoperatively there is a gradual normalisation of the haemostatic system function.

Objective: The aim was to monitor the changes of the haemostatic system intraoperatively and postoperatively, including the dynamics at which physiological values of parameters are reached after transplantation.

Fibrinolytic parameters, lipid status and lipoprotein(a) in ischemic stroke patients.

Introduction: Ischemic stroke is the third leading cause of mortality and morbidity in most countries in the world. Impaired fibrinolysis, as well as disordered lipid metabolism have been recognized as risk factors for this disease.

Objective: To study some of fibrinolytic parameters, lipid status and lipoprotein(a) - Lp(a) in ischemic stroke patients in Serbia and to examine associations between Lp(a) and fibrinolytic parameters.
