Introduction Intestinal carriage of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in healthy populations could amplify resistant bacteria, which may increase the risk of infections by these bacteria in the community and in the hospital. This study investigated the prevalence of colonization of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria in the intestines of healthy individuals in South India. Purpose: To identify the prevalence and microbial profile of infectious keratitis in a tertiary eye care hospital, and to test for the antimicrobial resistance of the bacterial isolates.
Methods: A total of 312 patients presenting to a tertiary eye care hospital with infected corneal ulcer were enrolled in this study. Their socio-demographic data and risk factors were recorded.
