The Characteristics and Patterns of Drug-Resistant Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Eastern India.

Background: Drug-resistant tuberculosis is a major public health problem throughout the world and accounts for substantial morbidity and mortality rates in India, too. Early diagnosis is the corner stone of tuberculosis treatment. State-level and cluster-wise variations in drug resistance is a possibility and should be regularly checked in from time to time.

Impact of Treatment Supporters on the Treatment Outcomes of Drug Resistant-Tuberculosis (DR-TB) Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background:  Drug resistant-tuberculosis (DR-TB) patients are provided universal drug susceptibility testing (UDST), anti-TB drugs for the treatment of DR-TB, nutritional support (Nikshay Poshan Yojana - the financial incentive of rupees five hundred per month for each notified DR-TB patient for the duration for which the patient is on anti-TB drugs) by the Government of India.

Methods:  This retrospective cohort record-based study was conducted in DR-TB patients. Some 1095 DR-TB patients who have initiated treatment at Nodal DR-TB Centre, Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Darbhanga, and continued their anti-TB drugs at home blocks were followed till their treatment outcome was known.

The usefulness of crossword puzzle as a self-learning tool in pharmacology.

Introduction: Pharmacology is perceived as a volatile subject as it's difficult to recall and recite the core of the subject. Enriching the learning environment through incorporation of a variety of teaching and learning strategies and methods yields enhanced learning. Crossword puzzles provide expansion of vocabulary, stimulate thinking capacity, boost confidence, and fasten up the learning capacity; hence, the present study was conducted to investigate the usefulness of crossword puzzle as an innovative self-learning tool in pharmacology.

Assessment of anxiety, depression, and serum cortisol level in oral submucous fibrosis patients: A controlled clinical trial.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the anxiety, depression, and serum cortisol level in OSMF patients.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Outpatient Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Teerthanker Mahaveer Dental College and Research Centre, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Age- and gender-matched 105 patients were divided into three equal groups as follows: Group 1 - those with areca nut chewing habits and OSMF, Group 2 - those with areca nut chewing habits but no OSMF, and Group 3- those without areca nut chewing habits and without OSMF.

Objective: Assessment method can influence student learning. Use of objective structured practical examination (OSPE) has been reported in various institutes with great benefits. We evaluated OSPE for the assessment of practical skills in pharmacology examination for undergraduate medical students and compared it with conventional practical examination (CPE).
